PULLED OVER 4 SPEEDING

Pulled Over For Speeding A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left 'Amazing,' he thought as he flew down I-75, pushing the pedal even more -Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the State-Trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring -He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120 Suddenly he thought, 'What am I doing? I'm too old for this,' and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival -Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes Today is Friday If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused then said, "Three years ago, my wife ran off with a FloridaState-Trooper I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, Sir," replied the trooper No Police Available Walker George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window -George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house," and he said "no." Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available George said, "Okay," up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them." Then he up Within five minutes six police cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red handed -One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" -George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available! Teacher’s notes Activity Group work: collaborative reading and writing; speaking Preparation: Cut up each joke into parts and shuffle them Procedure  Tell the students that they are going to read a joke It is in parts which are not in chronological order Their task is to put the joke in the correct order  Divide the students into groups of Each group is given a set of strips of paper previously shuffled  In their groups each student should take one strip of paper They should read their part of the joke and, working together, rearrange them to complete the joke  Each student should practise reading his/her part When they are ready, they line up, read in turn their parts out loud to the other group Then the other group proceed with their joke (You may need to check with the class if the sentences have been arranged in the correct order.)  When they are back at their seats, tell them that their next task is to rewrite the joke within their respective groups , i.e to make it shorter in order to make it more effective  A representative of each group reads the new version to the rest of the class  The whole class votes on a) better joke, and b) better version Additional note If you have a class larger than 16 students, you can cut up jokes in more than parts or simply add another joke so that you have three groups
