Week Period UNIT 20: AT THE ZOO Lesson (1, 2, 3) I Objectives: * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - use the words tiger, horse, monkey, peacock, in relation to the topic” At the zoo” - use What can you see? I can see… inviting a few pairs of pupils to the front of the class to ask and answer questions about what animals they can see at the zoo, using the picture in Activity 3, Lesson -Play game: Walk and talk Activity 2: -Content : Listen and number - Procedure: + Show Ss how to carry out the task & number the correct picture + Elicit the name s of the animals + Have Ss repeat them + Play the tape times for Ss to listen Do the task & check their answers + Get Ss to swap & check their answers before checking as a class Activity 3: -Content 5: Look, complete and read - Procedure: + Have Ss read each exchange and guess the missing word(s) that can be used to fill in the gap(s) in silence + Check comprehension & give feedback + Elicit the words filling the gaps + Allow Ss time to the task + Get Ss to swap & check their answers before writing the correct answers on the board for Ss to copy down + Call a few pairs to read aloud Activity 4: -Content 6: Let’s play - Procedure: + Tell pupils that they are going to revise the target vocabulary items they have learnt in Lesson + Divide pupils into groups of five and give each group a set of cards +Have each player in group in turn look at the card and mime / act out the animal on the card (e.g peacock) without making any sounds or lip movements The other player in the group asks What can you see? The players in group answer (e.g I can see a peacock.) If the second group has the correct answer, they get a point If the answer does not match the action, switch the groups and let each player in group mime the animal while the first group gives the answer The game ends when all the cards are gone  Consolidation: - Content: Review the form + Form: What can you see?
