- đường mổ có nhiều ưu ựiểm sau:
+ đường mổ này ắt phải cắt cơvà các tổ chức phần mềm khi bộc lộ vào ựến mặt trước thân ựốt sống.
+ Là ựường vào trực tiếp các thương tổn chèn ép rễ, tủy cổ từ phắa trước như thoát vị ựĩa ựệm, chồi xương hay các thương tổn khác, giải quyết các thương tổn giải phóng chèn ép rễ và tủy cổ một cách tốt nhất mà khó thực hiện ựược theo ựường mổ phắa saụ
+ Thực hiện hàn liên thân ựốt, chỉnh gù cột sống cổ, trả lại ựộ vững chắc cũng nhưtái lập lại ựường cong sinh lý cho cột sống cổ.
- đường mổ cổ trước bên có thể có một số biến chứng: + Tổn thương mạch máu, tạng lân cận, tổn thương thần kinh
+ Phẫu thuật viên có kinh nghiệm, nắm vững giải phẫu phẫu thuật vùng mổ thì ựây là ựường mổ an toàn, ắt có biến chứng và mất ắt máu trong mổ.
2. Kết quả phẫu thuật:
Về giải phóng chèn ép, ựiểm JOA trung bình trước mổ là 9,4 sau mổ sớm là 12,0 sau mổ 1 tháng là 13,8 và sau mổ 3 tháng là 14,9 (p<0,05). Tỷ lệ hồi phục sau mổ tốt và rất tốt sau mổ 1 tháng là 87,5% và 3 tháng là 92,7%.
Kết quả về phục hồi chiều cong sinh lý cột sống cổ tắnh theo ựộ ưỡn cột sống cổ sau mổ 3 tháng không còn bệnh nhân có chỉ số ưỡn nhỏ hơn 0 mm, 8 trường hợp chỉ số ưỡn ≤ 6 mm (so với trước mổ tương ứng là 22), 32 trường hợp sau mổ có chỉ số ưỡn > 6 mm.

Kết quả hàn liên thân ựốt sống sau mổ 3 tháng 100% hàn xương ựộ 2 và ựộ 3.
Không gây biến chứng trong mổ như tổn thương mạch máu, thần kinh hay tạng lân cận.
Không bệnh nhân nào phải truyền máu trong mổ.
