Lesson plan number 9 have content the lesson belongs to Unit 8. A date to remember of New Headway elementary book. It introduces the basic knowledge about the usage of past simple 2, time expressions; vocabulary about relationships, spelling and silent letters; reading about three inventions; speaking about famous inventions; writing about a friend.

LESSON PLAN NUMBER 9 Object:  Basic English Name of lesson:    UNIT 8. A DATE TO REMEMBER Period:  05 Time:   225 minutes Date:   I. Introduction:       The lesson belongs to Unit 8. A date to remember of New Headway elementary book. It introduces the basic  knowledge about the usage of past simple 2, time expressions; vocabulary about relationships, spelling and silent letters; reading about  three inventions; speaking about famous inventions; writing about a friend II. Aims: Knowledge:   ­ Knowing the usage of past simple 2, time expressions ­ Understanding the vocabulary about relationships, spelling and silent letters ­ Reading about three inventions ­ Enhancing writing skill: writing about a friend Skill: ­ Reading the vocabulary fluently ­ Practicing speaking skill ­ Practicing listening skill  Attitude: ­ Paying attention to the lesson ­ Contributing the ideas to the lesson ­ Working in groups enthusiastically.  III. Preparation: Teacher:  ­ Curriculum: For students at Tay Nguyen School – Full time ­ Teaching program: New Headway Elementary ­ Teaching aids: Textbooks, pictures, handouts, computer, projector, board ­ Testing and assessment: communicative approach, group discussion Students:  ­ Knowledge   and   experiences   relating   to   the   lesson:  reviewing   the   usage   past   simple,   searching   vocabulary   about  relationships ­ Studying aids: Books, notebooks, pens, board, etc IV. Procedures: Class stabilization: ( 2’):  ­ Checking attendance ­ Reminding class before teaching Check – up: (10’) 3. New lesson: (210’) STAGE TIM E STARTER 45’ METHODS ACTIVITIES TEACHERS Communicative  ­ Call each Student to check their answers approach Task 2, 3, 4 ­ Work in pairs and ask and answer based on the  conversation below A: who invented TV? B:  A: When was TV invented? B: in  ­ Check the whole class and then give correct answers ­ Give some cards of time and ask Ss to read and then give  the cards of time prepositions and ask them put with the  correct time expression Task 1.2 : ­ Ask Ss to underline all the dates in the texts ­ Let them know that all these dates are incorrect and ask  them to listen and correct them Task 3:  ­ Ask Ss to work individually , read the text again and  then do task 3  ­ Then compare their answers with their partners ­ Play the tape and ask them listen and check Task 4 :  ­ Ask Ss to work in groups and make some more incorrect  sentences about the texts and then ask other groups to  make them negative and give correct answers Ex: G1: Mary  Anderson often visited New York by air TEACHING  AIDS STUDENTS ­ Work in groups ­ Do the task Blackboard,  ­   Present   in   front   of  CD player,  class textbook Famous Invention s 45’ 45’ Practice Time expressio n G2: She didn’t often visit New York by air. She visited  New York by car.  Task 5:  ­­ ­ Play the tape and ask Ss to listen and repeat Task 6:  Work in pairs  Student A: go to P149 Student B: go to p 151 Communicative  ­ Task 1: Ask students to work individually to fill in time  approach expression with the correct preposition ( in , on , at) ­ Check the whole class and give correct answers and   pointing when we use “ at, in , on “ Task 2:  ­ Ask Ss to work in pairs , ask and answer the questions  ( use  a time expression and ago in the answer) Ex: A: When did you get up? B:  At 7.00, three hours ago A: When did this term start?
