UNIT 7: Letter Gg Lesson1

I.Aims.

1/Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students can be able to recognize and pronounce the letter Gg and its sound correctly

-Understand, recognize and say the three Ggwords and Write the letter Gg Vocabulary

- Educate Ss to be friendly with friends

- Students love animals and trees with the letter g - S:Le Ngoc Linh know the letter G

II.Teaching aids:

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

2.Warm up ( 5’)

- Greet students

-Review the previous lesson by playing the “Touching game” -Put up the fox, fish, frog, and fork cards on the board

-Line up students into teams

-Call a student from each team to stand 1m from the board

-Read of the words out loud (e.g a fox), the students must run to tap the card of that word

-The student who taps the correct card first will get point for his/her team -Call 4-6 students per team to the board if possible

-Introduction of letter Gg, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Gg - Use a card with letter Gg (or write on the

board the letter Gg) to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter Gg/d3i/ The letter

gsays /g/.”

- Ss; look at the sound listen and repeat - Ss: work individually and pairs

- Play the CD

- Ask students to repeat several times and check their pronunciation (letter Gg /d3i/ and its sound /g/)

Use the phonics cards with glass, goat, garden

read the words out loud and ask students to repeat

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help

students to understand the meanings of the three words

- Check students’ understanding: Teacher says the words, all students actions and vice versa

- Ss: work individually

- Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any) - S:Le Ngoc Linh know the letter G

Activity 2: : Memory Game (5mins) -Put the phonics cards of glass, goat, garden, Gg on the board

-Ask students to memorize the order of these cards

- Ss: listen and remember the phonics cards -Ask students to close their eyes, remove one phonics card randomly and ask individual students to name it

-Continue changing the other cards -Remember to correct Students’ pronunciation throughout the lesson

2.Warm up ( 5’) -Greet students

- Revise the words from the previous unit through ‘Reorder Letter Game’ -Put up the egg, elf, elephant and elbow phonics cards on the board

-Write the letter of each word in jumbled order around the phonics cards - Ask students to write the words in their notebook

- Ask individual students to come to the board and write the words 3 New lesson ( 30’ )

-Have students look at the books and listen to the words: look at, the glass, the goat, my garden

-Use gestures (hand actions) to help Students to understand the meanings of commands

-Ask students repeat by using the phonics cards of glass, goat, garden combining with gestures

- Ss: listen and repeat

- Ss; work individually and pairs

-Then, ask students to colour the glass and the goat, using any colour they like

- Ss: look at the picture and colour - Ss: work individually

-Go around the classroom, asking students to name the items they are coloring

- S:Le Ngoc Linh know the letter G

Activity 2: Pass the phonics card Game (5mins)

-Using the phonics cards of Gg, glass, goat,

-Line up the students into teams -Give the first students of each team a phonics card and say “Go”

-Ss: look and remember

-The students say the corresponding words and pass the phonics card over their head to the students behind them

-Next, those students repeat the word and pass the phonics card between their legs to the students behind them

-Continue to pass the phonics card over their heads and between their legs to the last students

- Ss: work in groups

-Which team hands their phonics card to Teacher and says the word correctly will get one point

-Which team has the most point will be the winner

-Continue the game as many times as necessary

* Activty 3.(Track 04) (7mins)

-Put up the lyrics of the chant on the board -Without music, use the phonics cards and step students to sing the chant with glass Do the same with goat and garden

- Ss: look at the chant listen and repeat - Ss” work individually

-With music, the whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

-Give feedback

- S:Le Ngoc Linh know the letter G

*Activity : Write down the words into Students’ notebook

Ask students write down: Gg ,glass, goat, garden into their notebook

- Ss: work individually 4.Consolidation: (3’)
