OBJECTIVES

1 Knowledge: After the lesson students will be able to asking and answering questions about one’s nationality ”

* Language focus:

- Sentence Pattern: nationality,American, Malaysian, Japanese, English, Australian

- Vocabulary: What nationality are you?- I’m

2 Skills: - Develop Ss speaking, reading and listening skills

3 Attitude: - Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English with others, love their country

* Set the scene:

- T uses the picture of the dialogue on page 14(Student book 1) to lead Ss in the conversation - Ask students to look at the pictures in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions

T: What’s her name?( pointing to the student) Ss: she’s Akiko.

T: Where is she? Ss: …

(Akiko is going to tell about her country and nationality)

- Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen and follow in their books

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the dialogue several times.( line by line in the bubbles)

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue again

- Have Ss to find out the new structure Act Point and say.(12’)

Activity 1: Listen and repeat.(10’) -Introduce the sounds /j/ and /v/ - Ps’ attention on the letters colored differently in the words Japan and Vietnamese Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ j” in the word Japan and that of the letter “v” in the word Vietnamese

- Ps practice the sounds carefully - Listen and repeat Read in groups in pairs

- Some Ss reports the answer The rest of the class listen and give comments - Ask ss to find some other words with the sound have learn

- Run through the task then tell ss that they are going to listen and tick the word they hear

- Give them time to read the words given and find the information which should be written
