Aims : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the text in details and complete the summary. II. Language contents : 1. Vocabulary : exchange students (n) 2. Procedure : TEACHER’S & STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES CONTENTS * Warm – up : Jumbled words. geehnaex  exchange - zamie  maize - yrrgcoe  grocery - edef  feed - llcocte  collect  exchange students (n) : trao đổi du học sinh - Tells students what “ exchange student” means. * Pre – reading : - Introduces the text which is about Van, an exchange student. He is from HCM City. He is now studying in the USA. He is living with the Parker family on a farm outside Columbus, Ohio. - Has students tell the class what they know about life in the country, on the farm. * While reading : - Asks students to read the text and answer the questions. ?1. What do people do ? ?2. How do they relax ? - Gives feedback. a. Matching : - Asks students to work in pairs, read the text and match the words in column A with the explaination in column B. - Gives feedback and answer key. b. Complete the summary : - Asks students to read the summary, and then the text, complete the summary, using the information from the passage. Matching the words in column A with the words or groups of words in column B having the same meaning * Answers for matching : - maize  corn - feed  give food to eat - grocery store  where people buy food and small things - part-time  shorter or less than standard time - collect  bring things together. b. Mr. Parker is a farmer and Mrs. Parker works part-time at a grocery store in a nearby town. They have two children, Peter and Sam. Van often does chores after school. Sometimes, he also helps on the farm. The family relases on Saturday afternoons and they watch Peter play baseball. Van likes the Parkers, and he enjoys being a member of their family. 4.
