UNIT 9: MY FAMILY Lesson 1

I Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can identify family members - Pupils can recognize English sounds and spoken words - Pupils can recognize family relationships

II Procedures

*Warm up: Review the vocabularies. A Presentation

1 Teaching vocabulary

Step 1: Teacher teaches vocabulary: baby, brother, dad, grandma, grandpa, mum, sister

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B Practice

2 Listen and say

Step 1: Tell pupils that they are going to learn the words for the members of the family

Step 2: Play CD, holding up the flashcard for each family member as the name is said

Step 3: Play CD again Pupils repeat the word chorally and individually. C Production

Step 1: Say the words at random, e.g baby, brother, dad, grandma, grandpa, mum, sister

Step 2: Check pupils are pointing to the correct person in their books.

Step 3: Play CD and pause after each word Pupils listen and point to the person in their books

- Learn vocabularies by heart

WEEK 29 – PERIOD 58

UNIT 9: MY FAMILY Lesson 2

I Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can talk about one’s family - Pupils can write simple words in English

- Pupils can develop fine motor control II Procedures

*Warm up: Review the names of family members. A Presentation

1 Teaching vocabulary and structure

Step 1: Teach vocabulary and structure: He / She is… They are … Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B Practice

2 Listen and say

Step 1: Tell pupils to look at the picture on pages 52 and 53. Step 2: Play CD Pause after each phrase.

3 Say and do

Step 1: Point to the flashcard to brother/ sister/ grandpa/ grandma.

Step 2: Repeat with the other flashcard, identifying the family members with He is …, She is …, or They are …

D Application

- Learn structures by heart
