UNIT 5 (cont’d) Listen ]I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to listen for specific information to fill in a report card. II. Language contents: Vocabulary: Behavior, participant, Co-operation, satisfactory, unsatisfactory III. Teaching aids: poster, sub- board, cassette, textbook. IV. Techniques: Brainstorm, pairwork, groupwork. V. Time: 45 ms. VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: ( Questions ) T asks sts some questions. Sts work in individaully. Call some sts to give their answers. * Questions: 1. How many days were you absent last month? 2. Did you like English? How is your English? 3. How is your reading/listening/ speaking/writing? T feedback. 2. Pre-listening: a) pre-teach Vocab. T elicits new words using situation, (explanation) (translation) (situation) (synonym) T reads new words. Sts repeat (chorus and individaul) Checking vocab. (Rubout and remember) 4. Can you speak English well? * Vocabulary: - behavior (n) cử chỉ, hành vi - participant (n) ngời tham gia - Co-operation (n) sự hợp tác - attendance (n) sự vắng mặt - satisfactory (adj) thoả mãn - unsatisfactory (adj) không thoả mãn * Look at Nga’s report and predict the missing information. a. Day present (1) b. Day absent (2) b) Prediction: T asks sts to look at Nga’s report and predict the missing information andthen compare with their partners. T gives feedback. 3. While-listening: T hangs a flip-chart on the blackboard T gets sts to listen to the tape and check their prediction c. Behavior- parrticipant (3) d. Listening (4) e. Speaking (5) f. Reading (6) g. Writing (7) * Listen to the dialogue and complete the report card. * Answers: (1) 87 days present Call some sts go to the board and complete the information about Nga. T checks and corrects (2) 5 days absent (3) Paticipation: Spanish pronunciation (4) Listening: Comprehension (5) Speaking: A (6) Reading: A (7) Writing: B 4. Post-listening: (Comprehension questions) T asks sts to answer some questions about Nga’s report card. T asks sts to work on their own to answer the questions. T gives feedback. * Comprehension questions: a) Who are Nga’s parents? - They are Mr. Lam and Mrs. Linh b) What’s Nga’s teacher’s name? - Miss Lien c) What subject was reported? - English d) What are the comments? - Speaking English quite well. However she does need to improve her listening skill. 5. Homework: - Learn “Vocab” by heart. - Do exrcise 2 on page 33 in the workbook. - Prepare “Vocabulary” in (Read). 6. Marks/Remarks: .
