Techniques: Ask and answer drill, pairwork, individual. V. Time: 45ms. VI. Procedures: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: (Questions and answers) * Questions: T aks Sts some questions dealing with writing letters. Sts answer. 1) Have you ever written to someone? 2) To Whom do you usually write? 3) How many parts are there in a letter? 2. Pre-writing: a) Pre-teach vocabulary: T use explaination, translation and example to elicit vocabulary. T drills pronunciation. T checks vocabulary (rubout and remember) T read, Sts repeat (chorus and individaul) * Vocabulary: Lunar New Year festival (n) TÕt ©m lÞch enjoyable (adj) thó vÞ (to) celebrate (v) lµm lÔ kû niÖm Mid-Autumn (n) TÕt trung thu b) Ordering: T asks Sts to put the parts of the letter in the correct order T gives feedback. T asks Sts to read the letter on (P 51) to check their order. a) Openning b) Closing c) The date d) Body of the letter e) Signature f) Writer’s address * Answers: 1. f 2. c 3. a c) Labeling. T aks Sts to label each section with the correct letter. 3. While-writing: T asks Sts to read prompts and then compare them with the letter. Sts imagine that they are Lan and write a letter to her penpal Donna in Sanfrancisco, using the given information. Sts work in groups. T calls some Sts to read their writing before the class.
