UNIT 4 (cont’d) Listen I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to understand the main idea of a story by listening. Morale: Educate Sts not to be foolish and greedy. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: foolish, greedy, gold,lay. 2. Grammar: Simple past tense. 3. Structure: S + used to + V-inf. III. Techniques: Pair work, group work, repetition - drill. IV. Teaching aids: Text book, pictures, a cassette V. Time: 45ms. VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents * Pelmanism: 1. Warm-up: (Pelmanism) T prepares eleven cards with run ran fly flew ride rode eat ate sit sat come numbers on one side and the verbs on the other. T sticks the cards on the board so that the sts can only see the Ex: run - ran (1 mark) numbers, make sure the verbs are mixed up. Divide the class into two teams.Each team chooses two numbers. Turn the cards over, if they match. T gives example. If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team. Continue untill all the cards are finished 2. Pre-Listening: a) Pre-teach vocab T reads the request and explains it * Vocabulary: Foolish (a) ngu ngèc (translation) (translation) (Picture) (translation) (translation) * checking- vocabulary: (What and Where) T reads. Sts repeat (chorus and individual). Greedy (a) tham lam Gold (a) vµng Lay- laid- laid (a) ®Î Amazement (n) b) Prediction: T asks Sts to look at four littles and guess which is the most suitable to the story. Give feedback. 3. While- listening: a) Repetition-drill: * Guessing which is the most suitable to the story. a) Don’t kill chickens. b) Don’t be foolish and greedy. c) Be happy with what you have. d) It is difficutl to find go. * Listen: Listen to the story. Write the letter of the most suitable moral lesson. Have sts to listen to the tape three times and check their prediction. Give feedback. 4. Post-listening: T asks Sts what tense is used in the story. Sts answer. Have Sts listen again and try to write as many verbs as possible. T calls some Sts to go to the board and write.Who writes more verbs get good marks. Sts copy. T educates Sts not to be foolish and greedy. * Answer: b) Don’t be foolish and greedy. * Simple past tense: + Find at the verbs in the story: - went discovered laid - shouted finished couldn’t - were ran looked - wanted decided 5.
