UNIT 5 (cont’d) Language focus 1, 2, 3, 4 I.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to use adverbs of manner and modal should as an advice. - To use reported with commands, requests and advice. Moral: Educate sts to give and advice suitably and retell polite in reported speech. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: Review adverbs of manner. 2. Structures: Modal “should” S + asked/told + O + (not) + to-inf S + said/told + S + should + V-inf III. Techniques: Pairwork, Gap-filling exercise, pelmanism IV. Teaching aids: Pitures, cards V. Time: 45ms. VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: (Pelmanism) * Pelmanism: Prepare ten cards with numbers soft good well bad hard (from 1 to 10) on one side and the hard fast fast softly badly adjectives/adverds on the other. Stick cards that are mixed on the board Devide the class into two teams and ask them to choose two numbers Turn the cards over, if they match. T gives example. That team has 1 mark 2. Activities: Activity 1: a) Review adverbs of manner. * Example: soft  softly 1. Adverbs of manner: + Form: Adjective + ly = adverb T gives the form of adverbs of manner. Sts give example T gives some especial case Sts copy down b) Gap-filling exercise: Ask sts to work in pairs Sts read the conversations silently and use the adverbs in the box to fill them Call some sts to give their answers T checks and corrects T calls some pairs to present. Advice in reported speech. S + said/told +S + should +V-inf. Ex: “You should stop smoking” he said 3.
