students in Nha Trang College of Culture, Arts and Tourism, as well as the recruiters’ and the graduates’ needs at work for improving the tour guide syllabus The subjects of the study consisted of 120 second-year students of Tourism Faculty majoring in tour guide, 45 graduates in the two years 2007 and 2008 and three recruiters of three domestic travel agents in Nha Trang City The data was mainly collected through students’ questionnaires, graduates’ questionnaires and recruiters’ semi-structured interview questions The research findings revealed that students’ needs were mostly relevant to their future work From students’ perspectives, the current ESP syllabus could meet students’ needs to a large extent Nevertheless, from graduates’ and recruiters’ perspectives, the current ESP syllabus seemed not to be able to cover all their needs The survey’s results showed that both students and graduates wanted to improve their speaking and listening skills Moreover, graduates did not feel satisfy with the writing skill and the language knowledge, i.e vocabulary and grammar Last, a majority of graduates and three recruiters required to add more professional knowledge into the contents of the tour guide syllabus at NTCCAT From the results of the study suggestions for improving the tour guide syllabus, including suggestions of improving language skills and suggestions of
