Orientation sessions are held for three days and two nights for first-year students, with lodging at Rieber Terrace Residence Hall The sessions for transfer students are held for one day and end in the evening During the session you will have the opportunity to see presentations, attend lectures and participate in discussions on the following topics: o The nature of a liberal arts education at a research university, and the differences between university-level learning and other forms of learning you have experienced o Academic policies and course planning: choosing a major, fulfilling graduation requirements and thinking ahead to graduate programs, professional schools and/or career goals o How UCLA courses can address your interests and curiosities o Professor expectations and $365 First-Year Students $125 Transfer Students TRANSFER STUDENTS Your session ends at 9:00 p.m., if you plan to enroll in courses while you are at Orientation; make all travel plans after this time Please note: Space in each Orientation session is limited and reservations will be processed in the order received It is, therefore, advantageous for you to complete your reservation promptly Changes or cancellation of reservations for a particular session must be done by the deadlines listed below No travel arrangements should be made until you have received a confirmation of the session in which you are enrolled The following are the deadlines to enroll in each Orientation session Once these dates pass, the session will be closed and you won't be able to enroll in that session If you would like to try enrolling in a closed session you must contact the Orienation Office at (310) 206-6685 EARLY ARRIVALS Students coming from outside of the Los Angeles area who wish to check-in at Rieber Terrace Residence Hall the night before their Orientation session must check the appropriate box on the reservation form and will be charged an additional $50 Phuï luïc fee If you not arrive for your scheduled early arrival time, you still will be billed unless you have contacted our office that you will not be arriving early Early Arrival check-in begins after 8:00 p.m and activities (for first-year students only) begin at 9:00 p.m PARTIAL FEE WAIVERS Partial Orientation fee waivers are granted to eligible students who submit an application and meet the required criteria Students who meet this criteria will have between 25-40% of their Orientation fees waived Fee waivers will be awarded only to students who: Indicate on the online reservation form that they are eligible and interested in receiving a partial waiver of their Orientation fees o Have applied for financial aid through the Financial Aid Office Are a registered UCLA student for Fall Quarter 2007 or Winter Quarter 2008 o o AND o Have dependent status, with a parental contribution equal to zero (as determined by the Financial Aid Office) OR o Have independent status, with a student contribution equal to zero and a parental contribution equal to zero (as determined by the Financial Aid Office) Students must meet all the above conditions to be eligible All students wishing to be considered for a partial fee waiver are responsible for insuring that all their Financial Aid information is accurate and updated by October 1, 2007 Any changes made to your Financial Aid status after this point will
