Activity 1: Introduce the book

- Teachers asks and Ss look at the book, answer the questions ( in Vietnamses) - How many units are there?

- How many lessons are there in one unit? - How many reviews are there?

- How many stories are there ?

- What page can you see the book map? - What page can you see the glossary?

- Where can you see the charactors in the book? - Where can you find the CD?

Activity 2:

- Introduce the main charactors

- Teacher introduces the name of the charactors one by one Ss look, listen and repeat

- Ask Ss to open their book on page 6. - Ask Sts the name of the characters

- Use a poster to present the context - Play the recording twice

- Ask Ss to repeat a few times - Call on two pairs to play roles - Ask Ss to practice in pairs - Call some pair to perform

Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation

- Teach the new words: + hello / hi

+ Im = I am

+ nice to meet you * Note:

+ Hi is very informal Sts can use with friends but not with an adult

+ Hello is also informal and friendly but more formal than Hi It can be used with teachers and other adults.

*Activity 2.( 10’) 2 Point and say

- Using picteres to present the words:

- Ask Sts to look at the pictures on page and identify the characters

- Explain the pattern + Hello Im _

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures: What are they doing?

- Tell ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes under the pictures

- Ss: Work in pairs or individuals to act out the greetings and responses in front of the class - Draw their attention to the pictures

- Ss: Listen to the recording the first time

- Elicit the name of the characters Have ps repeat them once or twice

- Play the recording through for Ss to listen

- Play the recording again for Ss to listen and tick the correct answers

- Ask Ss to exchange their answers with their partners before reporting them to the class - Correct, remark

- Play the recording again to Ss repeat follow Audio script:

1 Nam: Hello, I’m Nam.

Quan: Hello, Nam I’m Quan Nice to meet you.

2 Miss Hien: Hello, I’m Miss Hien.

Class: Hello, Miss Hien Nice to meet you.

*Activity 2.( 10’) 5 Let’s write:

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures

- Tell Ss what they are going to fill the grap witht

3/ Let’s sing.

- Ask Ss to open their Student’s book on page Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the sing on page on the board Tell them that they are going to sing the Hello song

- Play the recording all the way through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song

- Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat

- Play the recording once more for Ss to repeat the whole song

- Call on some Ss to sing the song in front of the class The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms

- Introduce picture and ask some questions about the situations in the picture:

- Tell the that they are going to practise saying and responding to Hello/ Hi + ( name) and How are you?

Ss: Listen and repeat Work in groups

- Check undestanding

- Procedure the first picture and explain what they say

- Repeat the procedure with the second picture - T plays the recording through for Ss to listen to the dialogue

- T plays the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat

- T divides the class into two groups: one group to repeat Nam’s and the Mai’s part

- Call on Ss to practise in front of the class - Correct, remark

* Activity (10’)

- Ask ps look at the pictures:

- Tell ps that they are going to practise saying : How are you? I’m fine, thanks And you?

- Draw ps’ attention to the pictures

- Point to each character in the picture and elicit his/her name

Ss: Work in pairs

- Some pairs practice in front of the class Other listen and check

- Write the whole sentences on the board - Have ps repeat the sentences a few times - Repeat the procedure with the second picture - Ask ps work in groups , pairs

- Call some pairs practice in front of the class - Check ss’ mistake when necessary

* Activity 3.(7’)

- Look at the picture and introdure

- Tell them thatthey are going practise more with their friends, using their own names

- In pairs students introduce their name the same in the book

- Have some Ss make a dialogue with their true names
