UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON (1-3)

A AIMS

- Ss will be able to master how to pronoun the sound /ie/ and /ea/; practice the sounds in words and sentences

- Ss will be able to chant together

- Develop Ss listening, speaking and chanting skills * Language focus:

- Vocabulary: revision B TEACHING AIDS

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks

C PROCEDURE

I WARM - UP Say the pairs words (jobs – places) Ex: doctor - hospital ……… II NEW LESSON

1 Listen and repeat

- Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part (sts’ book – Page 16) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sound /ie/ and /ea/ with different words

- Produce the sound /ie/ in field, piece, sound /ea/ teacher and reading a few times Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear the sound

- Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation

- Give the notes how to pronoun /ie/ and /ea/ in different words 2 Listen and circle Then say sentences with the circled words - Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given.

- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen the words and circle the words they hear

- Play the recording twice pupils for listen and repeat - Compare the answers with the partner

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers T gives the answer:

- Have pupils practice reading the whole sentences

3 Let’s chant: Jobs and places of work

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read Clap the syllables

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables

- Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

III REINFORCEMENT - Summary the lesson

- Do exercises E in workbook

- By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: the reading comprehension and writing task about family members’ jobs

1 Read and complete

- Have pupils open their books at Page 17 - Show a photo of Phong

- Tell pupils that they are going to read the passage about Phong’s family members’ jobs to get the information

- T reads – sts repeat

- Pupils read the passage individually

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary

- Ask sts get information from the passage to complete the table - Sts the task in pairs

- Get sts’ answer - Give feedback * Answer key:

Write about the jobs of your family members and where they work - Have pupils answer the following questions:

- Give feedback and contribute

- Call on some pupils to write on the board and other pupils write in the notebooks in individuals

- Have pupils comment the answer on the board

C PROCEDURE

I WARM-UP Showing a video about food and drink -> Lead in the new lesson

II NEW LESSON

1 Look, listen and repeat

• Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 18 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures - Elicit information from the pictures

- Explain the meaning of the language practised

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles - Repeat the steps a few times

- Some Ss role play and the others comment - Ask Ss to role play

- Ask Ss to role play before the class - get sts’ ideas about the model sentences: - What’s your favourite food/drink?

- It’s ……… 2 Point and say

- Get sts say about the time

- Play the CD for sts listen through the time - Sts listen, point and repeat

- Explain the pattern:

Ask pupils to point and say about the time by asking and answering Qs given

- Have pupils look at the time to practice in pairs to ask and answer base on the model

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers - T gets the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text

2 Look and write

- Have pupils look at the pictures with kinds of food and drink given - Ask pupils what they this part

- Tell them that they are going to write the answer base on the pictures

- Have pupils work in pairs to look at the food and drink to give out the answer - Call on a pupil to write on the board and other pupils write in the notebooks in individuals

- Have pupils discuss their answers in pairs for correction - Have pupils comment the answer on the board

- Call some pupils read aloud their work in front of the class - Have the class chorally read each line

- Introduce the song “My favourite food and drink” - Play the recording and listen the song

- Play the recording again for pupils to sing each line of the rhythm - Call on a group of four to the front of the class and the actions - The others clap their hands after the song

- Group work Pupils practise singing and doing the actions in groups

- Monitor the activity and help them when necessary Correct pronunciation Ss’ errors

- Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class The rest of the class sing the song and clap the rhythm
