- T put up the phonics cards from the previous unit (pen, pony, panda, parrot) on the board
- T write the letters of the words around them in random order - Ask the students to write the words in their notebooks

Activity Chant and show (7’)
- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board - Without music, use the phonics card and step Ss to sing the chant with Question Do the same with Queen and Quilt

Activity (3’)
- T divides the class into groups (question, queen, quilt).
- Each group says the appropriate chant while the rest of the class claps
- T asks the groups to show their corresponding picture cards while they chant
- T asks whole class to read the chant aloud - Ss read the chant aloud

- T encourage the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says
- T play the CD and ask Ss to listen to the story once
- T play the CD again
- Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story
- T read the storyand ask Ss follow their books - Teacher reads the printed words then let the students look at the pictures and say the words - Ss look at the pictures and say the words - T ask students work in pairs One reads while the other checks, then they change roles Or one reads the printed words while the other looks at the pictures and says the words

Activity: Say the Sight Words (3’)
- T point to and say the sight words: this, is, an, with, and
- Ss listen and repeat
- T calls some students read them aloud Activity: Memory Game (5’)
- T put up the phonics cards on the board - T ask the students to memorise the order in which the items appear
- T remove the phonics cards
(5)- T ask a student to name the items in the correct order
- Do the same procedure with changing the order of the phonics cards
Activity Song (7’)
- T puts the olive, orange and octopus phonics cards up on the board
- T point to the quilt and say: “A quilt for the queen!” And let’s Ss repeat
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song
- T play the CD and let’s Ss listen, sing along - T play the CD again
- Ss sing and corresponding actions Activity: Step on It Game (5’)
- T puts the phonics cards in a circle on the floor
- Play the song (Track 12) - Ss walk around the cards
- T stop the music and name an item on one of the cards (e.g: question)
- Ss race to step on that orange card
- The first student to step on it is the winner
and name the card missing
