- T use a card with letter Kk (or write on board the letter Kk) to introduce to the students the new lesson
- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter K /keɪ/The letter K says

- Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation (letter K /keɪ/and its sound /keɪ/.

Kite: imitate flying a kite Kitten: mime “ meowing” Juice: imitate hugging a tree
- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times
Activity: Jump up (3')
- Call Ss to the front of the class and assign each student word (K, kite, kitten, koala)
- Call out any word in the group of words - Ss who is assigned for that word has to jump up
- Continue with the other words and increase the speed
Activity Listen and point Choose (5')
- Ss look at the book and listen to the expression: “The kitten has a kite Fly the kite, The koala has a kite Fly the kite”,
point to the object when they hear - Ask Ss listen and repeat the words for several times

Activity: what is missing (3')
- T put the phonics cards on the board in this order: kite, kitten and koala.
- T give Ss a minute to look at them - Ss close their eyes and take away one phonics card
- T ask Ss to open their eyes and name the phonics card which is missing
Activity 3: Chant and show! (5')
- Use the phonics cards on the board and have the students sing the chant with kite.
Do the same with kitten and koala.
- The whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

(4)- Play the CD again Ss listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story
- T read the story Ss follow their books - T reads the printed words then let Ss look at the pictures and say the words
- T asks Ss work in pairs One reads while the other checks
Activity: Form a line (5')
- Put up the phonics cards on the board
- Write the respective words on separate pieces of paper
- Hand out the pieces of paper to the students and ask them to form a line at the front of the board in the same order as the phonics card o the board
- Repeat the procedure with another group of students
Activity Song (10’)
- Put the Kite, kitten, koala phonics cards up on the board
- T point to the jelly and say: “the koala has a kitten” The students repeat
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song
- T play the CD for listen and sing along - T play the CD again, Ss sing and actions
Activity: whisper (5')
- T whisper the word kitten to a student - Ss whispers the word to the student sitting next to him/her
- The last student says the word out loud - T show the phonics card to check the student’s word
- Continue with the other words
