Sports centres in the army are sports units with severalrecorded-achievements in the national sport; they are places tomanage and train military's high-performance sports teams in thenational and international competition Since their establishments,military sports centres have trained various talented athletes formilitary sports as well as the whole country Many generations ofmilitary athletes have won many outstanding achievements in theregional and the world arena Their outstanding achievements havehelped the military to affirm its position as one of the top threeprovinces, cities and branches in the country; it is the driving force topromote the movement of sports training to improve the health ofcadres and soldiers in the entire army, meeting the requirements ofthe training tasks and being ready to fight in every situation
Political quality of athletes is a basic and important elementforming the value and comprehensive strength of athletes; it plays acrucial role deciding the ability of each athlete to complete the tasks,directly affecting the quality and efficiency of implementing theguidelines of the National Assembly on promoting the development
of high-achievement sports in the army
Over the past years, with the attention and direction of theCentral Committee, the National Assembly, Party Committees,leading officials at all levels, the military sports centres haveregularly paid attention to educate and improve athletes' politicalquality The majority of military athletes have correct politicalawareness, enlightenment, ideological stance, and peace of mind.Most of the athletes are aware of the honour and responsibility,actively train and make every effort to improve and become

Presently, in the era of international integration, our Partyadvocates to attache importance to the education of ethics, will-power andnational pride for athletes is the top important task in order to improvequality and efficiency of training sports talent The Central PartyCommittee and the Ministry of Defence advocate maintaining the goal ofcontinuing to affirm high-achievement sports is one of the leading centres
of the country Meanwhile, the strong impacts from the negative side ofthe market economy, the social vices, and the hostile forces’ resistancehave negatively affected the perception and ideology of officials andsoldiers, including athletes in military sports centres The interest andexpectation of sports fans are seen as both the driving force and the greatpressure on achievement for each athlete That requires strengtheningeducation and fostering to improve political quality, lifestyle ethics andathletes’ political quality at military sports centres with high determination
in training and competition, successfully fulfilling every task assigned.This is considered as a basic and an urgent requirement for athletes atmilitary sports centres in the current period

Military sports centres were established under decisions of theMinistry of Defence, the General Staff, or the commander of themilitary zone, including the Military Sports Centre (Centre 1) underthe Department of Military Training, the National Sports Centre 2(Centre 2) under Military Region 7, Centre for National Defence 3(Centre 3) under Military Region 5, Centre for Sports and Defence 4(Centre 4) under Military Region 9, Centre for Sports and Defence 5(Centre 5) under the Navy Currently, sports centres in the armydirectly manage 27 high-performance sports teams, belonging to 22subjects including shooting, iron ball, table tennis, men's indoorvolleyball, swimming, chess, badminton, athletics, karate do, boxing,diving, pencaksilat, judo, tennis, boxing, taekwondo, gymnastics,wrestling, vovinam, traditional martial arts, wushu, bicycles, with atotal of 937 athletes , 274 of which athletes military personnel,defence workers, 663 athletes have not been recruited into themilitary payroll

Military sports centre is a physical sport non-business unit,equivalent to middle level, brigade, established in units directly underthe Military Headquarters; operating under the leadership and direction
of Party Committee, agency commander, governing unit, the guidance
