* Mục đích: To present our students with:

- Vocabulary, Grammar focus, Grammar Exercises, Mini Test

* Yêu cầu:

- Students have to do all the exercises on choosing –ing or –ed in Participle Clauses

- Students have to do mini test from part 1 to part 7

-ING AND -ED:

- If the participle of a Noun is the agent 

choose an –ING form

Eg: The tiring game

- If the participle is NOT the agent, choose

- Ss draw out the grammar points

- Work in pairs/ in groups

B PARTICIPLE CLAUSES:

- An –ING form can be used when two things

occur at the same time

Eg: He suddenly went out shouting

- An –ING form can be used when one action

occurs during another action

Eg: She hurt herself cooking dinner

- An –ING clause can be explanation of the

following main clause

Eg: Feeling tired, he went to bed earlier

C CHOICE BETWEEN –ING AND –ED

PARTICIPLE CLAUSES:

- Use an –ING form when the original verb is

transitive

Eg: Walking along the street, Tom ran into

one of his old friend

- Use an –ING form when the original verb is

transitive and when its object comes after it

Eg: Facing a police officer, he chose to run

away

- Use an –ED form when the object of its

original verb serves as the subject of the

main clause

Eg: Located on a hill, the hotel commands a

fine view
