Aims : Practice greeting and self – introducing. II. Objectives : - By the end of this lesson, students will be able to greet and self – introduce. - Develop speaking skill. III. Teaching methods : - Communicative approach. - Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually) + Work in pairs/ groups. + Discuss. IV. Teaching aids : - Teacher’s aids: student’s and teacher’s book, word cards, pictures, tape, cassette, puppets. - Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. V. Languages focus : - Phonics: Hi/ Hello. - Vocabulary: hi, hello - Structures: Hello. I’m Mai. / Hi, Mai. VI. Procedures : Teacher’s and students’ activities Content A. Warm up: • Teacher: - Greet class. - Introduce name : using “Hello.I’m + name” - Introduce new subject. • Pupils: - Greet teacher. B. New lesson: 1. Look,listen and repeat. • Teacher: - Have pupils turn their book page 6. - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they say. - Explain the difference between Hi and Hello. + Hi is very formal. Pupils can use with friends but not withan adult,e.g. a teacher. + Hello is also informal and friendly but more formal than Hi. It can be used with teachers and other adults. - Show the picture and elecit the characters in the picture an what they are saying. Hello. I’m / Hi. Write down. Read aloud. 2. Point and say. • Teacher: - Have pupils look at the pictures. Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. - Ask pupils repeat the phrases a few times. - Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Nam and Mai to act out the greeting exchange. - Call on more pair to act out Miss Hien and Nam, following the same way with Mai and Quan. Check pronunciation. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. • Pupils: Look at the pictures and identify the characters in the pictures. - Practise in pairs. Practise in front of class - Repeat all the phrases in the chorus. 3. Let’s talk. • Teacher: - Have pupils look at the pictures. Ask them identify the characters in the pictures. - Tell them that they are going to practise greeting and self - introducing. - Call on a pair to desmonstrate at the front of the class. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. • Pupils: - Look at the pictures and identify the characters in the pictures. - Practise acting out in pairs, using the pictures in their books. Practise in front of class. - Repeat all the phrases in the chorus. 4. Listen and tick. • Teacher: + A Hello. I’m miss Hien. B Hello, Miss Hien. I’m Nam. + A Hello. I’m Mai. B Hello, Mai. I’m Quan. - Answer:1a, 2b. Replay to check the answers. - CheckPupils: - Look at the pictures and say the information about the pictures. - Listen carefully and tick. Check answer with your partner. 5. Let’s Write. • Teacher: - Have pupils to turn their book to page 7. Ask them to identify of the characters in the pictures and what they are saying. - Tell pupils that they are going to read and get information to write the missing word(s) in dialogues 1 and 2. Explain the meaning of the language practiced. - Ask some pupils to read their answers aloud to the class. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the reading text. - Check: . - Have the whole class read each line of the dialogues chorally to reinforce their pronunciation. • Pupils : - Turn their books page 7. - Identify the characters in the pictures and say information about the pictures. - Read individually silently and complete the dialogues. - Pairwork: Trade their answers within pairs or groups for correction. 6. Let’s sing. • Teacher: - Play the recording and let pupils listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again and let pupils repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Divide the class into two. One group repeats each line of the chant, the other clap the syllabels. Repeat the step but this time the groups swap their parts. - Call some one volunteers to recite the chants. 1. Hello; I’m 2.
