UNIT 7 (cont’d) Speak I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to talk about how to parcels or letters. - Skills: Speaking and writing. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: surfase, air-mail, weigh, weight. 2. Grammar: Simple past tense III. Teaching aids: picture, flip-chart. IV. Techniques: communicative, approach. V. Time: 45ms. VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: T shows a picture and asks sts some questions. Sts give their answers. Questions: 1. What is this?  It’s a post office. 2. Where do they go?  They go to the post office. 3. What do they do here?  They sent a letter. 4. Do you often sent a letter?  Yes, I do. 2. Pre-speaking: a) Pre-teach vocabulary: T: A letter or a parcel sent by bus, train… T: A letter or a parcel sent by air. T shows the picture and ask Sts. T translations. Checks vocabulary (slap the board) * Vocabulary: - surfase (n) th göi b»ng ®êng bé, thñy - air-mail (n) th göi b»ng ®êng hµng kh«ng - weigh (v) c©n - weight (n) träng lîng b) Set the scene: T uses the picture to elicit to Sts. T gives Sts some questions. Sts guess about Mrs Kim. - Mrs Kim wants to send a parcel to QuiNhon, so she has to go to the post office - Does Mrs Kim send the parcel air-mail or surface mail? Why? 3. While-speaking: T asks sts to work in pairs to read the dialogue. Call Sts to give their answers. T checks and gives key. T calls some pairs to practice the dialogue in front the class. T drills pronunciation. - What is the weight of her parcel? - How much is it? 1. Practice the dialogue with a partner: - Mrs Kim send the parcel surface mail because it is much cheaper. - Her parcel is five kilograms. - It is 19,200 dong. T asks Sts to work in groups. 2. Look at the following brochure and the information in the box. Make similar dialogues: T uses the flip-chart and asks Sts to make similar dialogues. Divide class into 4 groups, each group  prepares a dialogue. Ask 2 pairs from each group to practice their dialogue. T moves around and help Sts. T drills pronunciation. Clerk: Can I help you? Mrs Hong: I want to sent a letter to Kon Tum Clerk: Do you want to send it air-mail or surface mail? Mrs Hong: I send it air-mail. How much is it? Clerk: Let me see Mmm, 15grams, it is only 1,200 dong. Mrs Hong: Here you are. Clerk: Thank you. 4. Post-speaking: T asks Sts to make a new dialogue. Sts work in pairs. T calls Sts to play the role infront the class. T checks and corrects. * Make a new dialogue: want/parcel/Can Tho send/air-mail/surface mail send/air-mail How much/air-mail  13,000 VND 5.
