UNIT 1 (cont’d) Speak and Listen I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to use adjectives to describe people and how to respond to introductions. Morale: Educate Sts to respond to introduction politely. II.Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: curly, blond, straight, fair. 2. Structure: S + tobe + adj. S + have/has +adj +hair. 3. Grammar: Simple present tense. III.Techniques: Brainstorm, guessing game, pair work, group work. IV.Teaching aids: Text book, pictures, cassette. V.Time: 45’. VI.Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1.Warm-up/Pre-speaking black (Brainstorming): T asks Sts to think of the adjectives used to describe body build and hair. Sts do  T calls some Sts go to the board and write. T checks and corrects. T teachs vocab. T reads. thin * Answers. - fat - long - slim - short - tall brown - short - color grey - overweight black + blond (a) vµng hoe + curly (a) qu¨n, xo¨n (tãc) Sts repeat (chorus and individual ) T uses the picttures to check vocab. T asks Sts to work in pairs to read the dialogue between Hoa and Lan. + fair (a) vµng nh¹t (tãc) + straight(a) th¼ng + bold (a) hãi body build hair 2.While-speaking: * Describe someone’s hair. T asks Sts to work in groups of 5. Each student takes turn describing one picture, the others try to guess who he/ she is?. T explains the structure and gives an example. Sts work in groups T calls some Sts to describe pictures. The rest of the class guess. T checks and corrects. * Describe body build Ex. P 1 This person is short and fat. He has bold head. P 2 Is this Mr. Lai? P 1 Yes. 3. Post-speaking: T asks Sts to describe a famous person or of their classmates and their friends have to guess. * Describe a famous person that you know. 4. Pre-listening: T reviews how to respond to introduction. T reads the expressions in the box. S + have/has + adj + hair S + be + adj Sts repeat after the T. T asks Sts to guess and then complete four dialogues on page 12- 13, using the given expressions. T checks and corrects. 5.While-listening: T asks Sts to listen to the tape twice. Sts work in pairs to complete the dialogues and compare with their prediction. * Listen and complete the conversations. 1. I’d like you to meet my cousin. 2. Nice to meet you. 3. I’d like you to meet. 4. It’s a pleasure to meet you. 5. Come and meet. 6. How do you do? Sts listen again. T corrects. 6. Post-listening: T calls on some Sts to play the roles and practice the dialogues. T asks Sts to work in groups of 3. T corrects their pronunciation. 7. Homework: - Learn “vocab and structures” by heart. - Do exercises 1,2,3 in the workbook. - Prepare the next lesson “Read” 8. Marks/Remarks: .
