UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? Lesson 3( 1, 2, 3) Date of planing: 10/12/2018 Date of teaching : 5A -11/12, 5B,5C 12/12/2018 I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to - Listen and repeat words, listen and undrelined the stressed words - Do the chant “What are they going to do?” - Develop Ss writing and listening skills * Language contents: Vocabulary: volleyball, hard, everyone, event, hope, win, competition Word stress: When, sports, day, be, Saturday, what, going, do, play, football Skills: listening, reading and writing II Teaching methods: - Communicative approach - Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually) + Work in pairs/ groups III Teaching aids: Teacher: pupil’s and teacher’s book, picture, CD, cassette and falshcards Pupils: book, notebook, workbook IV Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities A.Class organization Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? Good morning/ afternoon! B Warm up - Spend a few minutesrevising the - Play Pass the secret previouslesson by getting two groups of pupils to play Pass the secret! Then give a dictation for the class to do, using the sentences that they have learnt in the previous lessons (E.g Sports Day will be on Saturday We’re going to play sports and games Phong and Tony are going to play badminton I’m going to play basketball on Sports Day.) C New lesson Listen and repeat - Listen to the T - Tell the class that they are going to practise saying the questions and the answers, focusing on the sentence stress - Answer T’ questions - Play the recording all the way through listen and repeat follow in the their for the class to listen and follow in their books books Play it again for them to choral and individual repetition until they feel confident - Get some pairs to say the questions and answers Correct the pronunciation, if necessary Listen and underline the stressed some pairs to say the questions and answers words Then say the sentences aloud - Listen to the T - Tell the class that they are going to listen and underline the stressed words listen and follow in their books - Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books Play it again for them to the task Go - Swap and compare their answers around and offer help, if necessary before checking as a class - Have them swap and compare their answers before checking as a class Then ask the class to read the sentences aloud - Listen to the T Let’s chant - Tell the class that they are going to chant What are they going to do?
