(1)Week: Period: 13 Date of preparation: 23/ 09/ 2012 Date of teaching: 26/ 09/ 2012 UNIT 3: AT HOME LESSON 2: SPEAK I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Talk about the position of things in a room - Describe the position of things - Develop their speaking skill II PREPARATIONS: book, cassette tape III PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities (2) Warm – Up: (5’) - Ask students to talk about the chores they often at home - Ask questions What you have to at home every day? Do you have to (sweep the floor)? Pre – Speaking: (8’) - Have students brainstorming What things are there in the kitchen? What things are there in the kitchen? - Talk about the chores they often at home - Answer the questions - Discuss in groups KITCHEN: cupboard, sink, stove, refrigerator, counter, cooker, knife, plate, dish, bowl, saucepan…… LIVING ROOM: Couch armchair, table, chair, coffee table, shelf, lamp, television, telephone, clock… - Look and say - Have students look at the picture/p.28 to identify the objects in the kitchen - Ask questions: Where is the (calendar)? It’s on the wall - Remind students of the prepositions of places: in, on, at, under, above, beside, next to, between While – Speaking: (15’) - Ask students to talk about the positions of the other objects in the picture - Have students read the answers The calendar is on the wall, under the clock, and above the refrigerator The sink is next to the stove The cupboard is on the wall, above the counter The knives are on the wall, under the cupboard The bowl of fruit is between the rice cooker and the dish rack The clock is on the wall, above the refrigerator The flowers are on the table The saucepan, the frying pan, and the pot are on the wall - Have students name the objects in the picture/p.29  Let’s put the armchair opposite the couch + OK, you are right + No, I think we should /ought to put it … No, I think it should be … - Call some pairs/groups to display their answers on - Answer the questions - Review the prepositions of places - Group works - Read the answer - Name the objects in the picture of the living room - Group works to arrange the (3) the board I think the coffee table should be between the couch and the armchair Let’s put the magazines on the shelf above the books I think the shelf ought to be at one of the corners, opposite the couch Let’s put the telephone and the lamp on the small table next to the couch The TV and stereo should be put on the shelf I think we should hang the picture/the clock on the wall above the couch furniture, and then display the answers Post – Speaking: (15’) - Describe the position of the - Have students to describe the position of the furniture in the living room furniture in their living room - Read the answer - Call some students to read the answer Homework: (2’) - Ask students to redo exercise Take note Prepare next lesson: Unit 3– Listen/ p.30 IV COMMENTS: _ (4)
