1 Getting started :

T: present the topic and remind some words or phrases about clothing:

- A kimono

- A sari: vai quan quanh nguoi thay cho quan ao

- A veil: mang che mat

- A kilt: loai vay ngan bang ke soc dan ong mien nui Scotland mac

- Jeans:

T: shows pictures at the page 13 and asks Ss if where these people come from

S1: What is she wearing? S2: She is wearing a Kimono S1: Where does she come from? S2: She comes from Japan T gives suggested answers: b She comes from Viet Nam c he comes from Scotland d She comes from India e He comes from USA f She comes from Arabia

2 Listen and Read

- Eliciting about Ao dai of Viet Nam and ask some questions :

1 What you know about Ao dai?

2 What material is Ao dai often made from? Who wears the Ao dai ?

4 Is modern Ao dai different from the old one?

……

- Remark and explain some new words : + Poet (n)

Ex : To Huu is a great poet + Musician (n)

Ex : Trinh Cong Son is a great Musician + Long silk tunic (n) : Translation

 Checking technique : What and where While reading :

- Now look at “Listen and Read” and turn on the tape Then complete the sentences, using the information from the passage

- Call on some Ss to read their answers aloud - Correct and give the correct answers : …poems, novels and songs

1 Traditionally, men and women used to wear the Ao dai

2 Because it is more convenient

3 They have printed lines on poetry on it or have added symbols such as suns, stars, crosses, and stripes to the Ao dai

- Repeat all the words in chorus and individually

- Listen carefully - Demonstrate their ideas in front of class

- Listen and copy down

- Practice answering the questions

4 Consolidation (Post reading): 8

- Get Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer the questions about the Ao dai

- What color is popular with Ao dai?/ with students at high school ? / with the middle – aged …?

- Go around and help them if necessary

- Call on some pairs to practice in font of class - Remark and correct mistakes

5. Homework: 5’

1 Learn by heart new words and make some examples with each one Redo the exercises and copy down

* Take a survey:

T: guide ss to make two next questions about the clothes they wear on the special occasion

eg:

Suggestions for asking about the clothes worn on the special days

+ What kind of clothes you often wear on the weekend?

Why you usually wear these clothes?

+ What is your favorite type of clothing? Why? + On what day you wear school uniform? What color is it?

+ What type of clothing you wear on your birthday/ at Tet ?

What would you wear to a party?

Ss: listen and try to give two more questions

T: allow ss to go around to ask their two classmates the questions in the book to complete the survey table

T: after ss interview some of their classmates, request them to come back their seat to report to the partner beside them

Ss: try to report what they have interviewed T : give examples for ss to understand more Eg:

Hoa said that she liked their uniforms

Nam said that he often worn uniform on Monday and Friday

5 Homework:

T: Ask ss to write about the interest of their friends’ wearing based on the survey they have done Prepare the next lesson “Unit 2: Listen”
