Speak Pre – task: Chain game Divide class into groups of 4 to play a network to play a chain game: “Introduce myself” S1: My name is Thao. I am from Thanh xuan. S2: Her name is Thao. She is from Thanh Xuan. I am Van. I am from Vinh City. Present the situation of the conversation between Nga and Maryam. Asks Ss to rearrange the conversation, start like this: A: Hello, you must be Maryam. B: That is right, I am. Ss work in groups to rearrange the dialogue. Then put their answers on the bb to compare. Ask Ss to use the information about Yoko and Paul to subordinate the underlined information in the dialogue between Nga and Maryam. Suggested dialogue : A: Hello, you must be Yoko B: That is right, I am. A: Pleased to meet you. Let me introduce myself. I am (your name) B: Pleased to meet you, Nga. Are you one of LAN’s classmates. B: Yes, I live in Tokyo. A: Is it different from Ha Noi? -SS work in pairs to make a new dialogue, they can choose one of the two dialogue. One S plays Paul from England or Jane from Australia. -Ss practice their dialogue in pairs. T helps with pronunciation and intonation. - Ss imagine that their pen pal comes to visit them. Work in pairs again to make a new dialogue between the two friends and practice it. - T goes around and help. Then ask some pairs to say their dialogues aloud . While – task: - Write their prediction on bb to compare with key answer after listening. - T plays the tape twice, check if there are any answers, tick Ss’ answers on the Listening Table. - Play the tape again, check if there are any answers and take notes. - Play the tape or the last time, then check. - Give the key answers: a. 1 b. 2 c. 2 - Ss compare their answers with the key and listen to the tape for the last time.
