Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: Greet and self- introduce. +Vocabulary: hello, hi, I, am, nice to meet you

+Grammar/ structures: Hello/ hi I’m + name + (Pronunciation):

III Procedure:

1.Warm up/ warmer: Say hello to the class and introduce yourself, using Hello I am + name Walk around the class to say hello again to some pupils and ask them to answer

2 New lesson:

Look, listen and repeat: * Teach vocabulary:

Hello Hi Am = ‘m Nice to meet you. -T asks Ss to listen and repeat these model sentences times -T calls some Ss read these model sentences

-T elicits the meaning of these model sentences from Ss Checking: What and where

Note: difference between Hi / Hello.

Hi is very informal Ss can use with friends but not with an adult, e.g a teacher

Hello is also informal and friendly but more formal than Hi It can be used with teachers and other adults

* Setting the sense: -T has Ss look at pictures, asks them to identify the characters in the pictures

Who are in the pictures? What are they doing? * Sentence Partners: - Hello

- Hi I’m + name

I’m + name (I’m = I am) -T calls some Ss to read the sentences in 1.1 -T plays CD three times listen and repeat -T asks Ss listen and repeat after the tape Point and say:

-T asks Ss to open their books page -T asks Ss to answer the question: + Who are they?

-T asks Ss to work in pairs and practice “Hello I’m ……

Hi,… I’m…… ” - T models first -T lets Ss practice

-T goes around class and helps Ss if necessary -T calls some pairs to speak loudly

-Ss listen to T

-Ss listen to T

-Ss listen and repeat these model sentences times -Some Ss stand up and read these model sentences -Ss give meaning of these model sentences to T

- Ss look, listen and repeat at pic in 1.1 practice

-Ss repeat again and read in pairs

-Ss answer the question: + Nam, Mai, Quan, Miss Hien

-Ss work in pairs and practice

-T asks Ss to look at the pictures in the book, asks them to identify the characters in the pictures

-T asks Ss work in pairs to greet and self- introduce, calls some pairs to act out

-T corrects their pronunciation

3 Consolidation: -T asks Ss to focus on the structure once again and retell the content of the lesson

4 Homework assignment: -Do exercises in the workbook

-Learn by heart the new words and structures

-Ss listen to T

-Ss look at the picture and chant in the book then read aloud

-Some Ss stand up and chant
