Lesson (Part 1-3)

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

- Pronounce two- and three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable:

'seaside,'islands and 'countryside.

1 Language focus:

- Phonics: 'seaside,'islands and 'countryside.

2 Skill: Improve P’s listening, reading and speaking skills. 3 Attitude: Teach Ps to love the places in their country. II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: students' book, recording, poster 2 Student: students' book

III III METHODS: P.P.P, chants IV PROCEDURE:

1 Organization (1’) - Greeting

- Check Ps’ attendance

Activity (8 ’ ):

-Tell the class that they are going to practise pronouncing two and three -syllable words with the stress on the first syllables

- Put the word 'seaside,'islands and 'countryside.on the board

-Say the words and get Ps to repeat

-Get them to listen and repeat the sentences -Do choral and individual repetition of the

Activity ( 8’ ):

-Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences

-Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence

-Play the recording for them to the task -Get them to compare their answers in pairs

before checking as a class

-Ask them to read the completed sentences aloud

-Get Ps to play a game: jumping Activity ( 10 ’ ):

-Tell the class that they are going to say the chant Where will you be this weekend?

-Have them read the chant and check their comprehension

-Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books

-Play it again for them to repeat line by line -Show them how to chant and actions

-Invite two groups to give a demonstration One group chants the questions and the other chants the answers

-Get Ps practice in groups

-Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and actions The rest of the class claps their hands along to the rhythm

2 Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud.

4 Consolidation (3’): Ps say the chant again and summarize the lesson. 5 Homework: Ask pupils to practise the chant at home.

Unit 5: WHERE WILL YOU BE THIS WEEKEND? Lesson (Part 4-6)

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

- Read and understand texts about future activities - Write about their future activities

1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review

2 Skill: Improve P’s listening, reading and writing skills. 3 Attitude: Teach Ps to love their time on holiday.

II TEACHING AIDS:

-Get them to read the text and find appropriate information to complete the table, paying attention to what Mai and her family will in the morning, afternoon and evening

-Tell the class that they are going to interview their classmates about where they will go and what they will next weekend

-Each pupil selects three classmates to interview and takes notes

-Select four pupils to report the results of their interviews to the class

Activity ( 3’ ):

-Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension

- Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few pupils to read the statements aloud

-Ask them to look at the pictures and ask them questions:

remember his name?

-Ask them to read the story in silence

-Then play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books Activity (8 ’ ):

-Tell the class that they are going to read the story again and answer the questions

-Give them a few seconds to read the story again and check their comprehension

-Give them a time limit to the task

-Ask them to swap and compare their answers before checking as a class

-Invite a group of seven to act out the story Activity (10 ’ ):

-Tell the class that they are going to look at the scrambled letters and write the words

-Have them look at the scrambled letters and find the words from the story

-Set a time limit for the task Give them the first letters of the words if they find the task too difficult

-Ask pupils to compare their answers before checking as a class

-Invite a few pairs to read the words aloud

2 Answer the questions
