2 Warm up (4’)
- Play the song from Lesson (Track 06), ask students to sing along and corresponding actions

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons
- Name some colours and ask the students to repeat
- Use the structure: “I like…” and ask the students hold up the colour pencils/ crayons they like
(2)- Have the students colour the apples that have Aa in them
- Give the students minutes to colour in the apples that have Aa in them Go around the classroom providing any necessary help
* Handicapped Ss: colour with teacher’s help Follow up : Thumbs Up or Down ( mins)
- Number the apples in exercise from one to six - Ask the students to put their thumbs up if the
apple has Aa in it and put their thumbs down if the apple does not have Aa in it
- e.g Teacher: (point to the apple number one in the book) Apple number one Up or Down?
- Class: (putting their thumbs up)
- Teacher: Good! And apple number two? Up or Down?
Activity (7 mins):
- Show the students the acrobat phonics card Point to it and say: /æ/ - acrobat Ask them to repeat
- Point to the pictures, the students the corresponding actions and say the words
- Have students colour the pictures of the words that start with the a sound
- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help
- Check with the whole class
* Handicapped Ss: read with teacher’s help Follow up: Craftwork (10mins)
- Ask the students to take out their notebooks - Ask them to choose one word then draw the
letter and the picture in their notebooks - Tell them to colour the letter and the picture - The three first students who finish will show
their picture to the class

Activity 2: Writing & Reading (5’) - Copy the box from the book to the board
- Tell the students that you are going to write the letter Aa into the box
- Demonstrate the writing
- Put phonics cards of ant and a bee on the board - Draw small square boxes next to them on the board - Ask the students which one goes with letter Aa and
then tick the correct box
- Ask the students to write the letter Aa in the boxes in their book and tick the correct picture that corresponds to the letter

Activity 3: Writing (6’) - Explain the activity
- Ask the students for the missing letter and write it in the gap
- Go around and give help as needed Activity 4: Writing (6’)
- Show and point to each picture on page and say the sound and then the word
- Students listen and nod or shake their head
- If they nod, trace a circle with your finger around the picture
- Have the students circle the pictures of the words starting with the a sound
- Go around providing any necessary help
