Lesson 2: part 4-5-6

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to express reasons.

2 Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills

3 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: Review

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Teaching processes:

I Warm up: Play the game: Order the words

II New lesson:

4 Listen and write

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen to four dialogues and

circle the correct words or phone numbers to complete the

sentences

- Have Ps read the incomplete sentences in silence and

guess the answers to fill the gaps

- Open the tape and listen the sound of the words

- Turn on the tape 2 times and ask Ps to listen and circle

the answers

- Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class

Key: 1.a 2.b 3.a 4.b

5 Look and write.

- Tell Ps that they are going to write questions, using the

given answers and the picture cues

- Have them read the answers and the incomplete

questions Then ask them to look at the picture above each

question and guess the words to complete the questions

- Ask Ps to do the task

- Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class

- Call on some Ps to write the answers on the board

Others take note and comment

- Have the whole class read each sentence in chorus to

reinforce their pronunciation

a number from 0 to 9 so that there are in total three

instances of each number Put the pieces of paper in a box

Ask to pairs of Ps to come out and stand next to the box

Say a phone number The pair that is quicker to find the

correct numbers from the box and put them in the correct

order gets a point and continues to play the game with

another pair The pair that gets the most points at the end

of the game is the winner

stress on the first syllable: ’crocodile, ’elephant, ’wonderful and ’beautiful

- Develop Ps writing and listening skills

3 Language focus:

- Vocabulary and structures: Review

- Phonics: ’crocodile, ’elephant, ’wonderful and ’beautiful.

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Teaching processes:

I Warm up: Sing the song “Buying clothes”

II New lesson:

1 Listen and repeat

- Tell Ps that they are going to pronounce the following

words: ’crocodile, ’elephant, ’wonderful and ’beautiful.

- Write ’crocodile, ’elephant, ’wonderful and ’beautiful

with the stress marks on the board

- Open the tape and have the Ps listen the sound of the

words

- Play the recording of the sentences a few times for Ps to

listen and repeat them, paying attention to the target words

- Sing the song

- Listen

- Take note to the board

- Listen to the tape

- Listen and repeat in choral, groups and

doing actions Each of the groups should sing one verse of

the chant Go around and offer help, if necessary

- Call two pairs to the front of the class to chant and do

actions The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm

- Have class chant again to reinforce their pronunciation

- Tell the class that they are going to read the email about

Mai and Nam’s visit to the zoo and complete the

paragraph Explain the meaning of the new words perhaps

and dangerous

- Tell Ps to read the incomplete paragraph first Then let

them read the email and focus on the information needed

to fill the gaps

- Ask Ps to do the task

- Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class

- Have the whole class read each sentence of the text in

chorus to reinforce their pronunciation
