Objectives : By the end of the lesson, the lesson, Ss will be able to know about Hoa - Lan and Nien, and describe people’character. II.Language contents: 1.Structures: (not ) + Adj + enough + to_inf. 2.Vocabulary seem, next-door neighbor, enough, look like III. Techniques and Method : -Method :communicate approach -Techniques : Chatting , Rub out and Remember ,Comprehention questions, ,pairsworks,groupworks IV.Teaching aids: a cassette player , pictures of activities in class,text book. V.Procedures INSTRUCTION CONTENTS 1. Warm up : Getting started (5’) - Ask Ss the activities that they like to play in their free time -Have Ss ask and answer the activities in the pictures. I often play soccer. I sometime play chess with my friends. 2. Presentation: (12’) - Show the picture of Hoa and Lan to introduce the dialogue by asking some questions about Hoa. - Who is Hoa? - Where is she from? - Who does she live with now? Pre-teach: -Have Ss listen to the tape once. - Explain and present new words I. Getting started What are they doing? They are playing chess / soccer / volleyball . Practice: (19’) - let Ss listen to the tape -Have Ss listen and repeat the dialogue. -Have Ss listen and repeat after the tape. Practice the dialogue in pairs.One or two pairs do it in front of the class. -Read the questions through to check their understanding. Have Ss read in silent to prepare for answering the questions ( a-d) Questions: (9’) -Ask Ss to work in pairs ( whole class) -Callon some pairs do in front of class. - correct the mistakes. 4. Production: (8’) Writing: - Ask Ss to write a paragraph about Hoa and Lan - Give Ss some cues and ask them to use the simple present tense to write individually. -Let Ss dicuss with their partners -Choose some answers and correct them in front of the class Ss talk about person they like best ( their close friends or teacher ) - seem(v): dường như (translation) - next-door neighbor (n): người hàng xóm (explanation) - look(v): trông (example) ex: What does she look like? She is beautiful. - smile(n): nụ cười (mine / gesture) - enough(adv): đủ (example) Model sentences : she wasn’t old enough to be in my class  (not) + adj + enough + to_inf Key: a) She lives in Hue b) No. She doesn’t know her. c) “She wasn’t old enough to be in my class” d) She is going to visit Hoa at Christmas. Home work: (1’) - Ask Ss to do the home work (l earn the vocabulary by heart, practice speaking the dialogue and prepare for : Speak and listen -Ask Ss do the homework in their workbooks Week 1 Period : 3 Planning date : Aug 26 th , 2009 UNIT 1: MY FRIENDS Lesson 2: Speak (page 11, 12) Listen I.Objectives : After finishing the lesson, students( Ss) will be able to use descriptive adjectives to describe people. listen to specific information for details to complete the dialogue. II.Language contents: - Structures: S + be + Adj S + have / has + adj + N - Vocabulary bald, curly, blond, straight . III.Techniques and Method: -Method : :communicate approach -Techniques :Brainstorming,Word cue drill, Prediction,What & Where ,Pairworks and groupworks IV.Teaching aids: pictures of activities in class-text book. Short / Tall / Fat / Thin . Ex: She has long blond hair. She is short and thin. 2 .New lesson: Activity 1 : a. Pre-Speaking: (8’) - Introduces the situation . Show Ss a pictures of Mary and ask them to describe her hair, her body build. -Gives correct answers Asks Ss to practice speaking the dialogue in pair. - Remind Ss of the structure used to describe someone. -Ask Ss to do the task b. While - Speaking: ( 8’) -Ask Ss to use the information in the book and make similar dialogues * Guessing game. - Puts 6 pictures on the board ( or ask Sts to look at the pictures in the books) -Have Ss work in groups of six. Each student takes turn describing one picture, the other try to guess who He / She is ( teacher gives example) -Call on some pairs do it in front of the class. c. Post- Speaking. (3’ ) SPEAK Vocabulary: - blond (adj): vàng hoe (picture) - slim(adj) : thon thả, mảnh khảnh (picture) - fair (adj) : nhợt, màu sáng (picture) - bald (adj) : hói (picture) - straight (adj) : thẳng (picture) -principal(n): hiệu trưởng (example) - cousin (n) : anh em họ (explanation) Form: - S + have / has + Adjective + hair Ex: She has long black hair - S + be + adjective Ex: She is short. Pre-listening (10’) - Give Ss some expressions and make sure they know their meanings. -Get Ss to guess and complete four dialogue on page 12-13, using given expression - Give feedback. b. While - listening (10’) - Let Ss listen to the tape twice. -Let Ss to work in pairs to complete the dialogue and compare with their prediction - Correct and give correct answers. c. Post- listening (3’) - Call on some Ss to play the roles of Nam - Hoa - Thu - Khai - Mrs Lien - Mrs Vi .and practice the dialogues - Correct their pronunciation. 3. Homework: (1’) -Ask Ss to write a short paragraph ( 5 sentences ) to describe their father or mother -Ask Ss to prepare for new section “Read” - Ask Ss do the homework in their workbooks _____________________________________ _____ L ISTEN Expressio ns : Cách chào nhau khi được giới thiệu How do you do Nice to meet you It’s a pleasure to meet you. II.Language contents: 1.Structures: S + be + Adj +enough + to_inf 2.Vocabulary sociable, generous, , reserved, III.Techniques and Method : Method :communicative approach Techniques : What and Where,guiding questions , comprehension questions ,multiple choice pairworks,groupworks IV.Teaching aids: a cassette player - pictures of activities in class-text book. V.Procedures INSTRUCTION CONTENTS 1. Warm up: (5’) -Asks Ss to describe the picture of Ronaldo and one of their friend’character -Give feedback 2 . New lesson a. Pre-reading: (10’) - Ask Ss some questions to present the lesson. *Guiding Questions: How many friends does Ba have? What are they like? What do they like? What do they enjoy doing in their free time? T ask Ss to work in group T corrects Ss do the task *Task 2. -Ask sts to work in pair to do exercise 2 -Read the text again ask and answer. - Call on some pairs of Ss to ask and answer. -Correct pronunciation and mistakes c. V.Procedures METHODS CONTENTS 1. While – writing : (20’) -Let Ss to write a paragraph about their friend using the information by asking them questions such as Tam’ s questions . Ask Ss to compare with their partners and correct if possible. -Give feedback c. Post- writing : (9’) * Task 1 : - Choose some exercises to correct in class. * Task 2 : -Ask some students to speak in front of the class about himself / herself. -Give feedback and mark 3.
