Class Absent student(s) Checking the old lesson: No checking: New lesson: Teacher’s activities a Before you listen: (8 mins) * Give a picture about Popffero ask students to answer the questions: Have you heard of “ Popffero”? Is it a village, a town or a city? Where is it? * Base on two pictures in the textbook and work in groups to compare them to see the changes of the town following the model in the book E.g: - There didn't use to be any hotel in the town Students' activities - Answer the questions Yes, I have It is a town It is in England - Work in groups to ask and compare the two pictures - There used to be small houses - Cows used to graze in the field Eg In the past, the town used to have only small old houses, but now there are many tall buildings - Ask some students to give their answer then check and correct them - Some students stand up and give their answer - In the past, there were not any hotels, but now there is a big hotel in the town - In the past, the streets were small and narrow, but now they are replaced by wide and asphalted ones * Introduce some new words - atmosphere (n): khơng khí - resurface (v): trải lại mặt đường - turn into (v): trở thành - Read the words and ask sts to repeat - Ask students to read the words in pairs - In the past, there used to have large pieces of grassland where you can see cattle grazing on both sides of the roads, but now you can see tall houses and buildings instead - Ask students to work in pairs, look at the statements given and guess if they are true or false - Ask students find out keys words - Ask students to listen to the talk and tick the right column to indicate their answer and underline the false information T plays the tape twice - Ask students to compare their answer in pairs - Play the tape once again, stops the tape where necessary and conducts the correction - Call students to go to the board to wtite the answers - Check their answer and then correct their work if they have the wrong answer + Task 2: Aims: Students practise listening for specific information by filling in the gaps with ONE word - Ask students to have a look at the paragraph in the textbook and to read them in pairs and make sure they understand them Encourage students guess the words to fill in the gaps - Ask students to listen to the tape once or twice again to fill in the gaps with the missing words - Ask students to compare their answer in pairs - Play the tape once again, stop the tape where necessary and conduct the correction - Check students’ answer - Work in pairs to guess if the statements are true or false -
