1 GENERAL

This MS describes Sub-base and base course work wich shall be carried out in accordance with

Technical Requirements Part II, Chapter II-2 – Section 11: Re-instatement The road work consists of

constructing Sub-base, base course at foundation excavation

3 SCOPE OF WORK

This MS will be apply for all foundation of project with thickness of subbase is 80cm Follow

technical design, the thickness of pavement and embankment is 40cm subbase, 18cm base and

12cm asphalt but to pier cap constructrion, DLM propose that hole backfill by subbase with

thickness is 80cm from existing road surface with requirement follow technical requirement

of project After pier cap construction finished, contractor will be remove only 30cm in 18cm

base and 12cm asphalt, after that leveling and re-compaction to meet technical requirement of

subbase re-instatement and continute for base course, asphalt construction.

4 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

Construction schedule for the road re-instatement will be submitted after approval of the overall

construction schedule and based on practical work

6 EQUIPMENT AND MANPOWER

6.1 EQUIPMENT

7 DESCRIPTION OF MATERIAL

a, Materials for sub-base shall be free of unsuitable materials as specified below:

- Material encountered in cut areas and in the foundation of the embankment that is

unsuitable for the planned use shall be excavated and disposed of as directed by the

Engineer Backfill as necessary shall be with approved material

- Highly organic clays and silts, peat, soils containing large amounts of roots, grass and

other vegetable matter are considered to be unsuitable

b, Besides, stabilized aggregate material for sub-base will obey the requirements for grain size having Dmax = 37,5 mm as follows:

8 CONSTRUCTION PROCEDUCE

8.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK SEQUENCE

 Prepare Construction

 Prepare material Sub-base

 Sub-Base Materials must be acceptable by consultant

 Sub-Base Materials must be gathered to dump at the construction site to conduct the inspection, assess the quality of materials.

 Preparation of works

 Sub-base materials shall only be placed if final layer of black sand material has been passed with the Field Density Test and has been accepted In any cases, if the

preceding layer not meeting compaction requirement, such layer shall then be

scarified, homogenized, given the adequate moisture and shall be compacted again in accordance with the required densities

 For the foundation of the site work or the old road surface, to detect treatment

thoroughly spoiled positions locally.

 Preparation for construction equipment:

Fully mobilize major equipment such as dump truck, rollers, rammer, level machine and manpower.

 Sub-base construction

 The Sub-Base material shall be placed and compacted by layers in accordance with technical requirement and full foundation of Sub-Base as shown on approved working drawings Since thickness of Sub-Base is 80cm layer and shall be spread in layers with un-compacted thickness up to 25cm Compaction shall be in accordance with specifications and using Roller or rammer Sub-Base material at the location where roller can not access shall be thoroughly compacted by use of mechanical rammer Care shall be taken to prevent segregation of the material into fine and coarse parts.

 Sub-base material shall be transported by dump truck and unloaded to the site and leveled by worker After unloading, the Sub-Base material moisture shall be checked

by visual by the Engineer If material contains too much moisture to obtain required compaction degree, the material shall be dried out before compaction, if not enough moisture it will be sprinkled with water as directed by the engineer.

 Immediately following final spreading and smoothing, each layer shall be compacted

to full width by approved roller, and shall continue until the entire surface has been rolled and each layer shall be compated to at least 98% of the maximum dry density as determined by procedure of compacting soil, ballast in laboratory 22TCN 333-06

 Any irregularities or depressions that develop shall be corrected by loosening the material at these places and adding or removing material until the surface is smooth and uniform At all places not accessible to the roller, the material shall be compacted thoroughly with approved tampers or compactors.

 The finished Sub-base shall not vary more than 15mm above or bellow the planned grade at any point, The thickness of the finished sub-base shall be not thiner than 15mm of the thickness requirement at any point

9 QUALITY CONTROL

Quality control shall follow Quality plan Doc No DLM–IMP–PPG–ZPQ–J00–00001–E of the project and is the part of this method statement

“Inspection and Testing Plan” is attached in Appendix

During construction process, the Contractor pays more special attention to safety issues on the construction site To achieve that, the Contractor implements the following works

- Safety Management will follow “Plan of Safety and Health Control of the project” and as a part of this measure

- Before and during the backfill, basic preventive measures will be fully implemented to avoid accidents or incidents

Items to control safety are as follows:

Before backfill, hold a meeting with the personnel on the purposes of generally explaining all work contents as well

as how to construct effectively

2 Traffic accident

Limiting speed (20 km/h) on the construction site

Vehicles must have signal instruction staff when going backwards

Arrange personnel in charge of turn signal at the entrances

3 Electrical accident

Install adequate earthing for equipment with stringent requirements as welders and generators

Do not use the device with current exceeding capacity of the conductors and protective circuit breaker

Be sure to use the appropriate outlet for the outdoor power outlet

The welding is carried out with full suitable protective equipment as welding helmet, leather gloves, and aprons

 Do not carry out welding work outdoor without shield when it rains

 Conduct daily equipment inspection to confirm the equipment status

4 Other works Need to arrange proper lighting system when conducting

work at night

- Environmental control is followed “Environmental Management Plan for the project” and as a part of this method statement

- Responsibility to protect surrounding environment will be implemented during construction process and complied with Conditions of Contract and Environmental Protection Law of Vietnam and other relevant laws such as Decree No.175/CP of the Government, Decree of guiding the implementation of Vietnam Environmental Protection Law, 1994

More attention is to control the following items:

a) If the gathering time is longer than 2 days, measure of covering anti-dust mesh will be considered

b) All grounds of vehicles must be washed before moving

If there are any other problems arising on the construction site, preventive and remedial measures will

be applied and proceeded immediately as quickly as possible

These issues will be controlled in term of management by the respective Construction manager and in term of actual operations by respective Engineer
