1 INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT1.1INTRODUCTION

Hanoi Pilot Light Metro Line, section Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station is a major project for Hanoi City.According to the Hanoi Transportation Master Plan till 2020, total length of HPLML (Line 3) shall reach21,5km from Nhon to Hoang Mai.The first phase of this line, and part of this Contract is from Nhon toHanoi Railway Station, with about 8.5 km elevated section and 4.0 km underground section This lineincludes 12 stations (with 8 elevated and 4 underground stations) The Depot is located at Nhon with areaof 150,550m2.

The CP01 Contract’s work scope is Viaduct Line at Elevated Section, including the construction ofviaduct structures which link along the National Road No32, Ho Tung Mau, Xuan Thuy, Cau Giay andinterfaces with underground section at the beginning of Kim Ma Street The contract shall be completedand within 30 months from the date of the Commencement Date.

Both metro and structure alignment follow the current and/or planned median road Viaduct structures aredivided into standard viaducts which cover most of the elevated section and special viaducts where long orspecial spans are required to pass over major constraints (2nd Ring Road, 3rd Ring Road, Nhue River).Other non-typical structure consists in Cross Over (metro line requires switches), ramps to depot andunderground sections and Y-bridge (branches off to depot) The overview of the project is shown in photobelow:

2 SCOPE OF WORK2.1GENERAL

Structure excavation work of Project will be carried out within the narrow area and with the great depth ofexcavated hole Therefore, Shored excavation method will be applied to ensure stability of excavationhole for structure construction.

Shored Excavation shall be undertaken in accordance with clause “3.4 - Shored excavation, Part II,Chapter II-2” of Technical Requirement This method is generally applied to Shored excavation to thedesign bottom elevation for all pile caps using shoring system.

This method also includes disposal of unsuitable excavated material, dewatering works and related worksto be free from the accumulation of ground water and artificial runoff water inside excavated area ShoredExcavation shall be done in accordance with the perimeters and slope as indicated on the approvedworking drawing

The Contractor shall set up and submit method of shored excavation The Contractor can adjust methodfor shored excavation in accordance with the actual condition on the site or at the direction of ConsultantEngineer All adjustments will be reviewed and approved by the Consultant Engineer, Employer.

After obtaining consent from the Consultant Engineer, Employer, the Contractor will carry out shoredexcavation.

Shored excavation part including:

 Shored excavation for pilecap type I (Standard pile cap). Shored excavation for pilecap type II (Cantilever pile cap). Shored excavation for pilecap type III (Special pile cap).

The Contractor will use method of excavation works of foundation pit by excavator and manpower.

3.CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE3.1QUANTITY OF WORK

3.2REFERENCE TO BORE HOLE

Based on alignment geological borehole, we have reference table of geological boreholes in accordance

with pier position Reference table is established for piers of Typical Bridge and Special Bridge.

With dimension, depth and geology of borehole at position of piers, Contractor calculated and proposedall piers in alignment have to use sheet piles cofferdam during excavation process.

Also, at position of pier caps with dimension (10.9x7.4x3.5m và 5.6x4.8x3.0m), Contractor use bracingsystem inside steel piles cofferdam.
