I OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

_ be more confident pronouncing sounds /p / and /b /

_ be better at using the passive voice

METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative

II TEACHING AIDS: textbooks

III.PROCEDURE:

1 Warm –up - (5’)

Give Ss some examples of passive voice and ask

Ss to underline the verbs then ask them to draw

a conclusion

1) This classroom is swept every

weekday

2) The new words of each unit must be

prepared at home

3) The earth is being threatened

4) Many tenses have been taught so far

Passive verb : be + past participle of the

main verb

2 Pronunciation : (10’)

Demonstrate the sounds /b/ and /p/ by

Ss work in groups

1) This classroom is swept every weekday

Instruct the way to pronounce:

- /b/ :first close the lips then move open

lips to release air There is a voice from

the throat

- /p/:first close the lips then move open

lips to release air There is no voice from

the throat, but there is a small explosion

of air when the lips open

Ask Ss to work in pairs and practice sentences

Go around and provide help when necessary

3 Grammar and vocabulary (20’)

Exercise 1:

Ask Ss to read the two examples again

Get Ss to do exercise 1 individually

Ask Ss to compare the answers with a friend

Call on Ss to read the sentences

Give correct answers

4 Exercise 2 (10’).

Ask Ss to do exercise 2 Ask them to notice the

tense and the voice of each sentence

Call on some Ss to read aloud their sentences to

class

5 Exercise 3 (10’)

Ask Ss to read the whole passage to understand

the situation

Ask them to notice the tense and the voice of

each sentence

Get Ss to do exercise 3

Remind Ss about correct past participle forms of

some irregular verbs

Call on some Ss to read aloud the completed

passage in front of the class

Ss listen and repeat

Ss work in pairs

Correct answers of exercise1 1) were reported
