UNIT 16: THE WONDERS OF THE WORLD PART A: READING I AIMS & OBJECTIVES - To help students develop their reading skills to get general and specific information - To provide students with new words and vocabulary II TEACHING AIDS - Chalk, board, lesson plan, textbooks, tape, radio III PROCEDURE Class organization (1min) Check up (5 mins) - Some students revise the use of could/ be able to/ conjunctions New lesson (35 mins) Students’ activities Teacher’s activities Before you read - Work in pairs, look at picture ask and answer the questions - Asks some pairs of Ss to give the answer + They are the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Taj Mahal + The Great Pyramid of Giza is located in Egypt and the Taj Mahal in India + They are both wonderful man made wonders of the world While you read - Ss listen to the tape and pick out the new word in the reading passage Task - Ss read the passage silently then task 1 tomb ramp chamber spiral Consolidation: (3 mins) - Helps Ss to explore new words and phrases - Instructs Ss to study task 1, checks understanding wonder mysterious - Plays the tape once - Asks Ss to compare their answer - Words and phrases - Summarize the reading text Homework (1 min) - Summarize the reading text
