TEACHING PLAN ……………………Secondary School Teacher’s name: ………………………… Team/Group: Group SUBJECT: ENGLISH UNIT 1: HOBBIES- Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED Timing: period (45 minutes) I Objectives Knowledge: By the end of this unit students can: - Learn and remember some words and phrases related to the topic: HOBBIES - Listen and understand main ideas of the dialogue about the topic - Practice saying the dialogue in the text book Competence: Students can: - Name some their own hobbies and talk about these hobbies in English Attitude Students can: - Be interested in the topic - Like to talk about hobbies in English II Teaching aids/ materials: Student book TA 7, CD1, ppt file, pictures/ flash cards about HOBBIES III Procedure: Activity 1: Set the scene Time: 15 minutes Goal Input The activity aims at:  Arousing students’ interests in the topic: Hobbies  Activating students background knowledge about the topic - Vocabulary: a dollhouse: nhà đồ chơi amazing (a.): ngạc nhiên glue (unc.n): keo dán creativity (n.):sự sáng tạo unusual (a.): khác thường common (a): phổ biến - Set the scene: - The picture in the book, page - The questions: Who is she? Is building dollhouse a hobby? - Suggested answers: She is Ann It is a dollhouse Yes, it is Yes, it is - Vocabulary: a dollhouse, amazing (a.), glue (unc.n), creativity (n.), unusual (a.), common (a) - T elicits new words by using: pictures, mine, real objects, translation, synonym, antonym - Divide students into groups of or - Ask them to look at the picture in their text books, p.8 - Show the questions on ppt screen - Ask students to discuss the answers to the questions - Elicit the answers from some groups - Show the answers on the screen Activity : Listen and read Time: minutes Goal Input Outcome Pupils will be able to listen and find out Ann’s hobby and Trang’s hobby The text is about Ann’s hobby and Trang’s hobby Trang’s hobby is amazing and creative Ann’s hobby is rather unusal But it is more common than Trang thinks Because there are some horse riding Clubs in Ha Noi Pupils can listen and recognise their hobbies and opinions about those hobbies - Suggested answers: Procedure There are It is horse riding It is rather unusual but it is more common It is building dollhouses Its is amazing and it is a creativity Step 1: Have pupils predict the answers: How many hobbies are there?
