Preparing date: Teaching date: TEACHING PLAN GROUP 1( Đại Điền + Phú Khánh) Unit 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED Subject: English Time: period (45 minutes) Week: Period: I Objectives: Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - use the vocabularies /the terms related to topic: Festivals around the world - know about types of festival and festival activities Competence: - Students work individually, in pairs to complete the tasks - Students can develop competence of communication, self-learning capability, ability to use language Attitude: - Students can be interested in the topic - Students can be more aware of preserving and developing festivals in Viet Nam and around in the world II Teaching aids: - Textbook, laptop, audio file, speaker, board III Procedure: * WARM-UP (5minutes) Goal Input The activity aims at: - arousing students’ interests in the topic - activating students’ background knowledge about the topic Brainstorming: Find out some festivals around the world Festivals around the world Outcome Procedure Suggested answers: Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, New Year’s Day… - Teacher gives the topic and then divides the class into groups - Teacher asks students to give their answers - Students give their answers - Teacher checks the answers, corrects students’ error if necessary and announces the winner *Activity 1: Listen and read ( Part 1) ( 14 minutes) Goal Input The activity aims at introducing the vocabulary in the text and helping students understand the dialogue The dialogue on page 92 textbook * Vocabulary: - cozy (adj) - costume (n) - folk dance (n) - float (n) - parade (n) Outcome * Vocabulary: - cozy (adj): ấm áp - costume (n): trang phục - folk dance (n): điệu múa dân gian - float (n): xe diễu hành - parade (n): diễu hành + Check: matching Procedur e - Teacher introduces the vocabulary by: + explaining the word + explaining the word + showing the pictures illustrating the word + explaining the word + showing the pictures illustrating the word - Teacher draws students’ attention to the picture in the textbook and asks them questions about the picture to introduce the festival - Teacher encourages students to give their answers - T gives feedback : The name of festival - Teacher plays the recording, asks students to listen to the tape and answer the question : “ When did Ms Hoa take the photos?
