(1)Week : 24 Period: 47 Date of preparing: 14/02/2016 Date of teaching: 17/02/2016 UNIT 7: SAVING ENERGY LESSON 4: WRITE I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to write short , simple speech with clear organization II PREPARATION: Textbook, word cards III PROCEDURE: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1/ Warm-up : (5’) Ordering - Ask Ss to work in pair, put the sections in the correct place to complete a speech - Give the correct answers : 3-2 -1 - Lead to the lesson 2/ Pre-writing: (15’) Activity 1: Definition of a speech - Introduce the topic of the writing and some definitions of speech: “It is the act of delivering a formal spoken communication to an audience A speech usually had three parts : Introduction , Body and conclusion.” - Ask Ss match the functions of each part I Form of a speech: A 1.Introduction 2.Body 3.Conclusion B A Summing up what you have said B.getting people’s attention and telling them what you are going to talk C.giving details in easy-tounderstand language Activity 2: - Teach vocabulary II Vocabulary:  Collect (v): thu nhặt  Solid waste (n): rác thải rắn  Put(v): đặt  Wastebasket(n): sọt rác  Separate(v): riêng biệt STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES - Work in pair - Correct - Listen - Listen and remember - Match the table - Listen and take note 3/ While-writing: (18’) - Have Ss work in group of 4, and choose one topic to write a speech - Guide - Work in group - Pay attention (2) - Call on some representative of each group to present - Present their writing their writings * Suggested writing : Good morning, ladies and gentlemen I am a conservationist and today I am going to tell you how to reduce the amount of garbage You know , nowadays , every household produces a lot of garbage You can reduce this amount by : + Collecting plastic bags , empty cans and bottles then send them to factories for recycling + Using cloth bags instead of plastic bags + Not keeping solid waste with food waste + Using food waste to feed pigs , chickens and other animals If you follow these simple rules , not only will reduce the amount of garbage you produce but your life will be cleaner 4/ Post-writing: (5’) - Call on some representative of some groups to present in - Make a speech front of class Good morning, ladies and gentlemen I am a conservationist and today I am going to…… If you follow these simple rules ,…… 5/ Homework: (2’) - Write assignments - Have Ss: + Copy down the completed writing in their notebooks + Prepare for the next period Unit 7: Language Focus IV COMMENT: (3) Week : 24 Period: 48 Date of preparing: 15/02/2016 Date of teaching: 18/02/2016 UNIT 7: SAVING ENERGY LESSON 5: LANGUAGE FOCUS I OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to further improve their understanding about connectives , phrasal verbs and suggestions through sentence completion and suggestions making II PREPARATION: Extra boards III PROCEDURE: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES / Warm-up : (7’) Brainstorming The ways of saving energy - Ask Ss to work in group and review all the ways to save energy which they have learned - Gather ideas from groups and have some final thoughts on the ways to save energy 2/ Exercises: (28’)  Exercise 1: Connectives - Explain functions of the connectives : + And : to add a similar or another idea + But , however : to add an opposite idea + Because : to give a cause ? + Please turn off TV when you finish watching + It is important to look for a job after graduation + My sister looks after the pet when I am away + He goes on talking about himself - Give the meaning  The meanings of the phrasal verbs + Turn on = switch on / start + Turn off = switch off / stop + Look for = try to find + Look after = take care of + Go on = continue Exercise : Complete the sentences , using the right tense form of the phrasal verbs in the box and the pictures - Get Ss to compare their answers with a friend - Give the correct answers : look after go on turn on looked for turn off  Exercise 3: Making suggestions - Review some structures to make suggestions Suggest + V- ing… Suggest + that + should + V- infinitive … - Ask Ss to work in pairs to make suggestions, using the ideas in the textbook * Example : I suggest collecting unused clothes I suggest that we should collect unused clothes and give them to the poor people in the neighborhood - Call on some Ss to read aloud their suggestions - Work individually, then compare with the partner - Pay attention - Take note - Work in pairs - Present their suggestions 3/ Consolidation: (3’) - Ask Ss to retell the structures Suggest + V- ing… Suggest + that + should + V- infinitive … 4/ Homework: (2’) - Ask Ss to: + Redo the exercises + Prepare for test 45’ - Retell - Write assignments IV COMMENT: (5)
