LESSON 1-2 AIMS:

1 Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

 Recognize and pronounce the letter Mm and its sound correctly  Understand, recognize and say the three Mm words

 Write the letter Mm

Vocabulary :Moon, mouse, milk

Sight words :Can, you, see, the

2 Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing

Put the phonics cards from the previous lesson on the board Below the cards, write the words without the beginning letters

Ask some individuals come to the board and find the beginning letter to complete

each word

(Track 79): Introduction of letter Mm, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Mm (6mins)

Use a card with letter Mm (or write on

board the letter Mm) to introduce to the students the new lesson

Instruct students how to pronounce the

letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter M /em/, the letter M says /m /.”

Repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation (letter M /em/ and its sound /m /)

Use the phonics cards with moon, mouse

and milk, read the words out loud and have students repeat

Use gestures (hand actions) to help

students to understand the meanings of the three words

Activity 2

2.Listen and point Colour (Track 80):

(6 mins)

Have students look at the book and listen

to the expression: “Can you see the moon”,

Have students point to the objects when

they hear

Have students listen and repeat the

sentence for several times

Give feedback

Do the same procedure with the other

words

Colour

Ask students to colour the moon, mouse

and milk using any colour they like

Go around the classroom, ask students to

name the item they are colouring

Actyvity 3

3 Chant and show! (Track 81) (6 mins)

Act it out

Colour

Moon: mặt trăng

2.Listen and point Colour

Can you see the moon? Can you see them mouse?

Can you see the milk?

Read the word and ask students to listen

and the gestures for words moon, mouse and milk

Change role: teachers does the actions,

students look and call out the words

Chant and show

Use the phonics cards on the board and

have students sing the chant with moon Do the same with mouse and milk

4 Listen And Read Along (Track 82) (6 mins)

Encourage the students to point to the

picture of the word that the teacher says

Play the CD Have the students listen to

the story once

Play the CD again The students listen and

point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

Read the story The students follow their

books

Teacher reads the printed words then let

the students look at the pictures and say the words

Ask students work in pairs One reads

while the other checks, then they change roles Or one reads the printed words while the other looks at the pictures and says the words

Activity: Say the Sight Words

Point to and say the sight words: can, you,

see, the, on, with, some

Have students repeat

Have some students read them aloud Give feedback

Put up the moon, mouse and milk phonics

cards on the board

Point to the mouse and say: “Mandy

Mouse is on the moon!” The students

M, m, m, moon! Moon, m, m, m! Change :

mouse and milk

4 Listen And Read Along Can you see the moon? Can you see the mouse? Can you see the milk? Can you see the mouse?

On the moon with some milk?

Activity: Say the Sight Words
