UNIT 8: Letter Hh Lesson 1 I Aims.

1.Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students can be able to recognize and pronounce the letter Hh and its sound correctly

-Understand, recognize and say the three Hh words and Write the letter Hh Vocabulary

2.Warm up ( 5’)

- Greet the students by saying: Hello class - Have students play a game: toss the envelop

Give instruction for the game The students will get an envelope with the previous flash cards inside While teacher plays the music, student tosses the envelop to the next person When the music stop, the student who is holding the envelop has to pick out one flash card and read aloud If the student reads correctly, continue to toss the envelop If the student reads incorrectly, he/she has to dance following a song then

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

-Introduction of letter H, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Hh

- Use a card with letter Hh (or write on

- Look at the cards on the boad

- Instruct the students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter H /et/ The letter H says /h/.”

- Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation (letter H /et/ and its

sound /h/)

- Use the phonics cards with hat, hen, and hippo, read the words out loud and have students repeat

- Ss: listen and repeat

- Ss: work individually and pairs

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help the students to understand the meanings of the three words

- Stick the cards on board and have the students repeat the words chorally several times (in the correct order and then in any order)

- Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any) Activity 2: Sit and Stand Game (5’)

- Show the phonics cards one by one For example, show the card with hen, but incorrectly say hippo or hat, the students will stand; if the words are correctly said, they will stay sitting

- Ss: listen and - Ss: work individually

- Do the same procedure for the other two cards

- Give feedback

Activity 3: Writing in the air(5’)

Show the letter Hh again, have the students write the Hh in air with their finger

-Ss: look at the phonic card and write in the air

--Ss: work individually -Correct

4.Consolidation: (5’)

- T asks whole class to read the letter aloud Do the excersice 1,2,3

2.Warm up ( 5’) - Greet students

Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and doing hand actions

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

- Have the students listen and repeat the expression for several times

- Ss;Look the cards and repeat

- Do the same procedure for the hippo with the hat.

- Play the CD

- Pupils listen and point to the hen, hat and hippo

Activity : coloring (5 mins)

- Ask the student to open the activity book, on page 51, trace and colour the letter Hh - Ss: work individually

Acting out game: optional (5 mins) - Says the words hen; the students the

gestures following teacher’s talk (not teacher’s action)

- Ss; action

- Ss: work individually and pairs - Continue with the other words

-Students who incorrectly have to sing or dance or any other requests

* Activity (Track 49) (15mins)

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have the students sing the chant with hat Do the same with hen and hippo

- Ss: Look at the chant listen and repeat - Ss: work individually and pairs

- The whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

- Give feedback

Activity 3: Write down the words into Students’ notebook (3’)

Ask students write down: Hh ,, hen, hippo,hat

into their notebook 4.Consolidation:

- T asks whole class to read the letter aloud Do the excersice 1,2,3

5/Comment the lesson

- a hen with a hat - hippo with the hat. 2 Practice.

2.Chant and show! phonics cards

- hippo - hen - hat. H, hat
