UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON (1-3)

A AIMS

- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to ask and answer questions about someone’s job

- Develop Ss speaking skill * Language focus:

- Sentence Patterns: - What does your … do? + He’s/ She’s……… B TEACHING AIDS

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks

C PROCEDURE

I WARM - UP Singing the family song

II NEW LESSON

1 Look, listen and repeat

• Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 12 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures - Elicit information from the pictures

- Explain the meaning of the language practised

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles - Repeat the steps a few times

- Some Ss role play and the others comment - Ask Ss to role play

- Ask Ss to role play before the class - get sts’ ideas about the model sentences:

- What does your father do?

+ He’s………

2 Point and say

- Get sts say about the time

- Play the CD for sts listen through the time - Sts listen, point and repeat

- Explain the pattern:

- What does your _ do?

+ He’s/ She’s ………

- Have pupils look at the time to practice in pairs to ask and answer base on the model

- Model * Pairwork:

- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary

- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

- Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus

III REINFORCEMENT

I WARM-UP

Answer the questions:

What does your father/ mother/ brother/ sister do? + He’s/She’s …………

II NEW LESSON 1 Listen and tick

- Have pupils look the people with their jobs - Get sts say aloud

- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to dialogues and tick the correct pictures with who with their jobs they hear

- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the correct answers - Compare the answers with the partners

- T gets the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text

- Have pupils look at the jobs in the pictures - Ask pupils what they this part

- Tell them that they are going to complete the sentences

- Have pupils work in pairs to look at the jobs to complete the sentences

- Call on a pupil to write on the board and other pupils write in the notebooks in individuals

- Have pupils discuss their answers in pairs for correction - Have pupils comment the answer on the board

- Call some pupils read aloud their work in front of the class - Have the class chorally read each line

- Introduce the song “My family”

- Play the recording and listen the song

- Play the recording again for pupils to sing each line of the rhythm - Call on a group of four to the front of the class and the actions - The others clap their hands after the song

- Group work Pupils practise singing and doing the actions in groups

- Monitor the activity and help them when necessary Correct pronunciation Ss’ errors

- Call on one group to perform the song at the front of the class The rest of the class sing the song and clap the rhythm

- Have class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation Thursday, January 28th 2021

1 Look, listen and repeat

- Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Mai and Nam - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles - Repeat the step a few times

- Some Ss role play and the others comment - Ask Ss to role play

- Ask Ss to role play before the class

- Explain the meaning of the language practised

- Where does he work? + In a factory. 2 Point and say

- Ask Sts to look at the pictures given

- Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the names of jobs with the places given - Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals

- Explain the pattern:

- Where does a work? + A _ works _.

- Ask pupils about what they get information to say

- Tell them that they are going to ask and answer where the people works with the jobs given

- Have pupils to ask and answer using the model sentences

- Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give respond
