1 Period 1: 2017 Teaching date, September 6th INTRODUCTION I.Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to master the structure of English textbook and the way to learn each section in each unit and how to practice them II Procedure: Warm up: Lucky flowers! How many units are there in English textbook 6? There are 10 units in English textbook (5 units in term 1, units in term 2) LF! What are the parts/ the themes in the new textbook ? What is the part at the end of each Unit? (Project) What difficulties might you cope with in teaching this new textbook ? LF ! Introducing the structure of an English book : This book contains 12 units with 12 subjects that you’ve learnt in grade but with the larger information The components of the textbook: The student’s book and the workbook The student’s book contains: The book map: introduction to the basics of each unit, 12 topic-based Units, each covering sections to be taught in seven 45 – minute lessons, Reviews, each providing revision and further practice of the previous three units, to be dealt within two periods The components of each unit: Theme 1: Our Communities (Chủ đề 1: Cộng đồng) Unit 1: My New school Unit 2: My Friends Unit 3: My house Theme 2: Our Heritage : (Chủ đề 2: Di sản) Unit 4: My neighborhood Unit 5: Natural Wonders in the World Unit 6: Our Tet Holiday Theme 3: Our World (Chủ đề 3: Thế giới) Unit 7: Our food and drink Unit 8: Famous Vietnamese people Unit 9: Television Theme 4: Visions of the future : (Chủ đề 4: Tầm nhìn tương lai) Unit 10: Safety Unit 11: Sports and Games Unit 12: Cities and the World Each Unit goes or follows the steps: - Getting started, - A closer look 1, - A closer look 2, - Communication, - Skills 1: Reading + Speaking, - Skills 2: Listening + writing, - Looking back + Project) Looking back + Project is at the end of each unit Its contents are main grammar notes, further practice The way to prepare a lesson well at home : Depending on each Unit, you have to read the content of a lesson well, prepare vocabulary, grammar According to the parts : Listen and Read, Language focus , or Read Master the content of these, find new knowledge, find the meaning and the pronunciation of each new word It is better for you to learn it by heart at home After a lesson, relearn the lesson, learn the vocabulary by heart and write them correctly and the exercises in your Exercise Book You must master the main and basic grammar notes well They are very important You must master their theories and then the exercise If you have more free time, read reference books, listen to the tape or listen to the radio, watch the program of teaching English on TV on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon You can practice speaking English everyday, or practice English with your classmates at class III Homework: - Revision - Prepare Unit (Getting started)./ Period -Teaching date, September 7th 2017 UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL Lesson 1: Getting started I Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand the conversation about a special day * Preparations : Posters, pictures A cassette II Procedure : Warm up : Kim’s game - Teacher sticks the pictures of school things on the board - Ss look at these pictures in 30 seconds, remember things in the pictures - Call Ss come to the board and write down the words about the school things in the picture - Divide the class into teams Key: bicycle, pencil sharpener, , calculator , rubber, compass, notebook, ruler, textbook, pencil case, school bag - T reads the names of each thing , Ss listen and slap the things read by the teacher Pre - Reading: 2.1 Teacher sets the scene by asking Ss about the picture: - What is Phong doing ? Why? Or Why ( not )? Suggest they look at the word ‘series’, which means ‘many’ and the answers ‘there are ten of them already’ *Key: Complete the conversations - Then listen and check • What • What • How many • Why? • What time/ when Conjunction: Activity : - Ss exercise 1: -Ask Ss to work in group of four to discuss in order to find how they fell and what they think about television - Get feed back – Let them talk freely Do exercise 2: *Activity 4: 3a -Ask SS to read the reading carefully - then ask SS to speak in front of the class III- Homework: - Write five sentences to tell about their favorite TV programme - Prepare SKILLS ********************************** Tuesday, January 23rd 2018 Period 59: Unit : TELEVISION Lesson 5: Skills I Aims: By the end of this Unit, students can:  Read a TV schedule and descriptions of famous children’s programmes for specific information  Talk about a favorite TV programme - Teaching aids: poster, pictures, cassette II Procedures: Pre-reading: * Activity 1: -Tell Ss to read the schedule for Around the World Explain any words that Ss not know - Ask Ss some simple questions to explore content of the schedule - Give the meaning of the words, explanations and examples (Vietnamese equivalent) *Vocabulary the Pacific Jupiter Wheelbarrow Parrot instructor Skating rink Wicked race documentary 10.to discover 11.system 12.the Planet 13 universe 14.content While –reading: *Activity 2: - Get feedback and the group leaders can tell about their most favorite TV programmes – T write the name of the programme on the board as well as the number of SS who like them Tell the group about your favourite TV programme They should follow the following information The name of the progrramme  the channel it is on  the content of the programme  the reason you like it III- Homework: -
