Lesson 2: Part 1, 2, 3, (Part 1) I Objective:

- By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to make the phonetic sound of letter G, use structure “This is a …”

Vocabulary: letter G, girl. Sight words: this, is, a. Structure: This is a girl. 2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing 3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary II Teaching aids:

+ Teacher’s aids: Ss’book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector /TV. + Students’ aids: Student book, notebooks, workbook.

III Method:

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work IV Procedures:

*Activity: “Listen and act, guess”

- T invite a student to come on the board - T whispers a word from the previous lesson - The student has to act out the word

- All class has to guess what the word is 3 New lesson (30’)

*Activity Listen and repeat Trace (7’)

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat - T demonstrate tracing the letters with their finger

- T says a letter e.g “big G” or “small g” and Ss write the letter on the board

- T asks Ss to trace the letters with their fingers (individuals/ pairs)

1 Listen and point, repeat

- T calls some Ss demonstrate the activity in front of the class

*Activity Listen and repeat (8’)

- T asks Ss to look at the picture - T demonstrate the activity

- T point to the girl and say: “This is a …” then say “g…g…girl”

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to point to the letter as they hear them

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and repeat

- T asks Ss to demonstrate the activity in front of the class

- T says “g…g…girl” and make gestures for a girl, e.g using hands to show that the girl has long hair

- Ss say and act

*Activity Sing (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the lyrics - T read the lyrics as a whole class - T play the CD and asks Ss to listen

- T play the CD again and asks Ss to listen and sing along

- T asks Ss to clap their hands with “This is a” the the gesture for a girl with “girl” in the song - T plays The CD and asks Ss to clap and act

*Activity Listen and jump (5’)

- T demonstrate the activity - T asks Ss stand up

- T ask Ss to jump when they hear the letter Gg sound

*Activity: “Team competition” (5’)

- T divide the class into groups

- T invite 2-3 Ss from each group to come on the board

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and jump - The student who cannot jump correctly with “g” sound will come back to his/her seat

- After the CD, the team with the most Ss who are still on the board is the winner

2 Listen and repeat.

3 Sing

4 Listen and jump.

Play game.

V Summary:

- Learn by heart the word “girl”.

- T writes some words starting with letter Gg on the board - T says “g…g…” then point to a word

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat all together and individually

*Activity “Who is faster?” (2’)

- T divide the class into groups

- T says “h…h…hop” and the action - T asks Ss to say and act

- T asks Ss to look at the lyrics - T read the lyrics as a whole class - T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and sing along

*Activity Listen and clap(5’)

- T demonstrate the activity and asks Ss to clap when they hear the “h” sound

- T asks Ss to stand up

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to jump when they hear the letter sound

*Activity “Team competition” (5’)

- T divide Ss into groups

- T invite 2-3 Ss from each group to come on the board

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen and jump - The student who cannot clap correctly with “h” sound will come back to his/her seat

- After the CD, the team with the most Ss who are still on the board is the winner
