LESSON 3: Part 6, 7 I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Ee and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills Vocabulary: elbow

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing 3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pairs work, group work - Some techniques can be used: Craftwork Mime the Word

IV Procedures: 1 Organization:

1D Wednesday, November 28th 2018 2 Warm up (5’)

Activity:Form a line game

- Put up the phonics cards on the board - Have student volunteers

- Hand out the pieces of paper to the students

- T says: Form a line; then Ss line up in front of the board in the same order as the phonics cards

- Repeat the procedure with another group of students 3 New lesson

- T point to the letters and revise the sounds - T explain the activity

- T ask Ss to listen and tick the correct letter sound

- T ask Ss to stand at their desks - Say the word, e.g It’s an elephant - Ss repeat and perform a simple action e.g Students say It’s an elephant and mime being elephants for a few seconds

Activity Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the e sound Say the e words (10’)

- T show Ss the elbow phonics card Point to it and say: /e/ - elbow Ask them to repeat - Do action like elbow and say /e/, elbow - Encourage the students to the same - Play the CD

- Ask Ss listen, point to and repeat the word - Name some colours and ask the students to repeat

- Ask Ss colour the pictures which have Ee in them

- Give time for Ss to colour in the ‘egg’ and ‘elephant’ that have Ee in them.

Activity: Craftwork (5’)

- Ask Ss to take out their notebooks

- Ask Ss to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks - Tell Ss to colour the letter and the picture

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the e sound Say the e words

Activity: Jump game

- Put a line of masking tape on the floor and designate one side True and the other False

- Hold up a phonics card, e.g egg and say: egg Then students jump on the True side - Hold up another phonics card, e.g elf and say: ant Then students jump on the False side

- The students who end up on the wrong side sit out until the next game New lesson

Activity Trace and say (Activity Book) (5’) - let’s Ss revision of letter E, its sound

- T write on the board the big E and small e - Point to the letter E and say out loud “This is the letter E

- Point to the letter e and say out loud “This is the letter e

- Have the class repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Have the students say the sound individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary

Activity: How to write letter E (5’)

- Demonstrate how to write the big E by stroke - Draw an example of letter E using dashed lines

- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing the letter E

- Have some students practice tracing letter E on the board

- Have students trace letter E in the books - Students say after each finished letter

- Go around to give help if necessary Activity 2: Trace and match (5’)

- T let’s Ss revision of words starting with letter Ee by the game: Thumbs Up or Down - T asks the students to close their books - Hold up the phonics cards one at a time - Ask the students to verify the word the teacher says by putting their thumbs up or down

E.g Teacher: (holding up the elbow phonics card)

Class: (putting their thumbs down) Teacher: Good! What it is?

Class: elbow!

- Ask to trace and match with the corect picture

- Go around and give help as needed

Activity 3: What is it? Colour the Ee letters and say (5’)

- T ask Ss to find the shapes that have the letters Ee and colour them

- T ask Ss to say what appears in the picture - T go around providing any necessary help Activity 4: Help the elf go to the elephant Follow the e (5’)

- T explain the activity

- Ask Ss to draw lines to join all the es - T demonstrate by holding up the book and drawing an imaginary line
