* Warm up:
- Greeting: “Hello I’m Mrs Phuong.” - Invite Ss to respond by saying “hello” * Presentation and Practice:

- Introduction of letter A, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Aa
- Use a card with letter Aa
- Instruct Ss how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound
- Repeat several times and check Ss’ pronunciation (letter Aa /ei:/ and its sound /æ/)
- Use the phonics cards with ant, apple and alligator, read the words out loud and ask Ss to repeat
- Use gestures (hand actions) to help Ss to understand the meanings of the three words
- Check Ss’ understanding: T says the words, all Ss

- T prepares some phonics cards of the ant, apple and alligator and the meaning of that words
- T sticks all of them on the board and asks Ss: “the ant is apple, right?”
=> Ss: “No.”
- Have Ss match in the right orders T invites Ss go to the board to match
- Invite other Ss to check - Give feedback
* Presentation and practise(15’) 1 Listen and point Colour (Track 3):
- Have Ss look at the books and listen to the words: An, ant, apple, alligator
- T points to the ant and says “an ant” Have Ss repeat many times
- T does like that with the apple and alligator
- T plays the CD Have Ss listen and point to the ant, apple, alligator
- T says “An apple” and asks Ss to point to the corresponding item in the picture T does like that with the ant and alligator
- Ask Ss to colour the apple, using any colour they like - Go around the classroom, asking Ss to name the items they are colouring

- Using the phonics cards of Aa, ant, apple, alligator - Line up the Ss into teams
- Give the first Ss of each team a phonics card and say “Go”
- The Ss say the corresponding words and pass the phonics card over their head to the Ss behind them - Next, those Ss repeat the word and pass the phonics card between their legs to the Ss behind them
- Continue to pass the phonics card over their heads and between their legs to the last Ss
- Which team hands their phonics card to T and says the word correctly will get one point
