- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read for specific information about family customs and traditions, ask about and describe different customs and traditions

- Ask Ss to read the passage quickly and check their prediction Key: She's writing about her family

*Activity 2:( part 3)

Ss read the pasage again and dicide in which paragraph (A,B,C) each detail below is mentioned Write A,B or C in the blank

- Ask Ss to run through all the statements and underline the keywords e.g in statement 1, the key words are ' name' and ' Italian dish'

in statement 2, the key words are ' time' ,' family member' , ' gather for lunch'

- Ask Ss to read through the passage quickly and located the keywords Stop to read the part that includes the key words more cafully to make sure the information matches

*Activity 1:( part 5): Discuss the questions

- Ss in pairs to ask each other the questions about their own family customs and traditions

- T moves about the class, facilitating where necessary and assessing how Ss are doing

*Activity 21:( part 6): Interview another pair to get their ans to the questions in 5.

- Have two pairs of Ss join together One pair interview the other.( One st interview and other notes down the answer in the table).Then the second pair interviews the first pair

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to listen for specific information about a traditional dance of an ethnic group in Viet Nam and write a discription of a

traditional Japanese dance + Vocabulary:

+ Grammar:

- Skills: develop and practice listening and writing skills

- Political thought and moral sense: help Ss understand more about customs and traditions around the world

B TEACHING AIDS:

- Textbook, teacher’s book, lesson plan, board, chalks, computer and projector, cassette and the CD record

C.METHODS :- Chatting, open - predictions, listen and check, T/ F, complete the sentences and write it up

II Revision / Warmmer: (5’) : Chatting

Ask Ss to look at the picture and share what they know about this tradition with a parner Elicit SS' answers and have them share as much information as possible Write the name of the traditional dance on the board

The xoe dance. III New lesson : A Listening( 15’)

Activity 1: *part 2: Listen to Mai's presentation and complete the table with no more than three words from the recording.

- Tell Ss that they are going to listen to Mai's presentation on the Xoe dance and complet the table

- Ask Ss to run through all questions in the table make sure them understand the meaning

- T plays the recording once Ask for Ss's answers and write them on the board - T plays the recording again for Ss to check.T can make changes to the answers on the board but donot confirm the correct answer now

Activity 2: Part 3: Listen again and tick T or F - T run through all the statements

- without listening to the recording again Ss decide if the sentences are T or F If they meet any difficult doing this T plays the recording again

- Have Ss compare their answers in pairs

- T plays the recording the last time to confirm the answers for both and Key:

Activity 1: Part 4: Ss read about a traditional japanese dance Thenmake coplete sentences using the information given.

- Run information in the table - Check Ss' understanding

- Have Ss work in pairs and make sentences using the given information - Encourage Ss to write down the full sentences

- Ask some Ss to write the sentences on the board and check them with the whole class

+ The Obon dance is a traditional japanes dance + The dance express people honouring their ancestors

+ People perform it on Obon festival, in mid-August in many regions of japan and in mid -july in other regions

+ Obon dance has diffirent forms in diffirent regions + The most tipycal form is circle dance

+ People make a circle around a yagura, a high wooden stage Some dancers move clockwise, and some counter- clockwise

+ They should continue this tradition because it is one of the most important traditions Lots of people come back to reunite with their families diring the Obon festival

Activity 2:Part 5,6 Write a description of Obon dance.

There is a tradition in Japan that people perform the Obon dance during the Obon festival

- Have Ss write their description in groups of based on the sentences they have made, beginning with the given sentences

- Groups exchange their descriptions to spot any mistakes Share them with the whole class T may collect some Ss' work to mark at home or ask them to rewrite the descriptions as homework

- Ask them to use should or shouldn't and a verb in the box to complete the sentences

- Let Ss to run through all the scenarios Make sure Ss understand the meaning -Ask Ss to work in groups to play the game one st is the group secretary Group members take turns to choose one of the scenarios for each other The secretary write down the advice each member give Finally, the group vote for the person giving the best advice

D Project: Customs and traditions: How they have changed.

- Tell Ss that customs and traditions may change over time Ake Ss if they known any custom or tradition that has changed

- T divides the class into groups of or 5- instructs them on what they have to - T may elicit Ss'answers : Some customs and traditions that may have changed are those celebrating weddings and the Tet holiday, throwing house- warming parties - Ss work in groups to the project following the instructions in the book Answer Ss'questions if there are any

-T have Ss present their findings in the next lesson and vote for the best IV Summary.

- T asks students to repeat the main contents of the lesson IV Homework:

- Learn by heart all the vocabulary and grammar - Finish the project (p 47) at home
