Grade 10 Lesson plan Date:06/04 2013 Unit 10: CONSERVATION Lesson 4: D.Writing Class basic All 30 tenth grade students consisting of 16 boys and 14 girls in the class are 16 years old. Their native language is Vietnamese and English is considered as the second language. Aim By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a letter of invitation. Objectives 1. Terminal objectives: Students will be able to successfully write a letter of invitation to a friend. 2. Enabling objectives: Students will be able to review some suggestion structures to write an informal letter to their friends. Students will be able to learn about the simple form of an invitation letter. Students will be able to practice writing an invitation letter based on the cues. Materials English textbook 10, small board, pictures, syllabus, chalk… Time 45 minutes Anticipated problems 1. Students can lack of necessary vocabulary and structures when writing an invitation letter. 2. Students can be confused when using the simple tense and present perfect tense. Procedure 1. Greeting class and checking students’ attendance. 2. New lesson. Time Stages Group 2 Page 1 Grade 10 Lesson plan Date:06/04 2013 5 min Warm-up (Play game) Divides the whole class into 3 groups. Explains the rule of this game “how to order the parts of a letter”. Firstly, gives each group 5 pieces of paper which contain the name of the parts of a letter. Secondly, asks students to work in group in 2 minutes to give the right order of a letter. Finally, calls a member of each group to stick their answers on the board. Checks the answers and gives congratulation. Gives suggested answers: 1.Date 2.Opening 3.Body 4.Closing 5.Signature Asks students to work in pairs read the requirements to understand .Then match the first half in A with the suitable half in B. Writes their answers on the board and gives any correction. Task 2 Introduces some new words/phrases: For a while Disco (n): a club or a party where people can dance with pop music. Afterwards (adv): at a later time. Asks students to listen and repeat the new words.
