Unit 1 : A day in the life of Lesson 1 : Reading Aims : -Students understand the content of the text -Students can use new words in communicative activities Stages Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warmer -gives handouts to students and explain the instructions: match the jobs with the correct workplace 1.teacher a. market 2.doctor b. school 3.worker c. hospital 4. seller d. field 5.farmer e. factory -asks some questions + Where does a teacher work? + Where does a farmer work? . -leads into the new lesson: To understand more about the life of a farmer, today we learn Unit 1. -receive handouts and do the task -answer -listen Before you read Activity 1 : Describing pictures -hangs some pictures on the board + a boy or a farmer is leading the buffalo to the field. + farmers are ploughing, harrowing, repairing plots of land + women are transplanting, pumping water. -uses pictures to pre-teach new words • gives another handouts and explain the task: Pick out some activities which Vietnamese farmers usually do. Handout 1: -observe -listen -work in groups, picking out the -goes round and helps students if necessary. -checks students’ work Activities 2: -explain task 2 : Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet are farmers. Activity 3 : -has Ss look at task 2 . -has Ss read again the text and answer the questions -checks Ss’ work. -exchange -check -listen -look at task 2 -read and answer questions After you read -has Ss close the book -asks Ss to work in groups of 4 Ss, discussing the daily routines of Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet. -calls some Ss to present before class. -gives feedback and marks -close the book -work in groups -present Homework Write a short passage about the daily routines of their father Lesson 2 : speaking Aims: -Help Ss to ask and answer information about daily routines -help Ss talk about their own daily routines and others’ Teacher ‘s activities Students’ activities Warmer - hangs a poster on the board Subjects are learnt at school 1. Suggested answer: Last year, I spent my summer holidays at a seaside hotel. The hotel was modern and comfortable. I had a wonderful holiday until the fire.It was Saturday evening and everybody was siting in the discotheque on the ground floor It was crowded with people. They was dancing and singing happily.
